Pink Tutu Travels: 12th December 1680 - A Dance through History!

Hello darlings!

It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing time traveller, bringing you another dazzling dose of ballet history from my very own magical blog, www.pink-tutu.com. Today, we're skipping back in time to December 12th, 1680, a date that holds a rather fascinating secret, don't you think? I mean, who knew ballet was such a history buff?

Just me and my pink tutu...

Today, I woke up to the delightful sight of frosty cobwebs clinging to my bedroom windowpane, just like they did in Derbyshire back when this date was just a glint in time's eye! My dear Meg, the pink-sparkling Shire horse with golden hooves and a mane like spun sunshine, was chomping at the bit, ready for our latest adventure. I'd packed my leather rucksack, a treasure trove of ballet curios and historical snippets gathered from my time travels.

What's in my time machine... oops, I mean... rucksack!

You'll never believe what I stumbled upon yesterday in 1889 Vienna! A magnificent embroidered shoe bag - perfect for carrying all the necessities a ballerina would need! Now, I'm dreaming of sewing matching ribbon-laced ballet slippers for Meg! Pink, of course, with a hint of gold for her hooves. I think she deserves a bit of fashion flair too!

1680, what's brewing?

Today marks the day of L'Amant Magnifique, a ballet in France featuring music by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. I’ve always been fascinated by the music that dances with ballet – and even the names sound incredibly dramatic and enchanting. I’d be so keen to see this ballet – just imagine, the costumes, the atmosphere… it must be breathtaking. I can already imagine all the details: sparkling bodice, swishy skirts, and delicate gloves. I wonder if the ladies are wearing lace too! Perhaps in 1680 the pink craze has already begun... I’ll keep my eye out, darling, you just know I'll make a point of adding pink tutus wherever I go, even in 1680!

A touch of Parisian magic!

To get into the Parisian spirit, I put on a lovely French ballet skirt, swirling silk and chiffon in blush pink. Imagine, these exquisite fabrics, delicate as flower petals, dancing in the moonlight. I love the romance and timeless elegance of ballet in all its glory, and that's exactly what I’ll be channelling as I venture into the heart of 17th century France!

Did you know?

Just for the record, folks, ballet started to take centre stage around the 1600s! It was this time that royal courts around Europe began commissioning dances. And, believe me, the choreography of those days was quite something! Imagine, complex courtly dances full of flourishes, bows, and endless curtsies! So many different styles of ballet were beginning to appear around this time - imagine all those elegant movements and graceful formations! Ballet has changed and grown over the years - yet its ability to amaze and move people has only increased. That’s the magic of ballet!

Join my dance crew!

Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com, darling. Next month, I’m sharing all the exciting details about my first performance! It's a fundraising gala for a little ballet school here in Derbyshire - we’re going to paint the town pink, or rather, I should say... I'm going to make sure the whole school is decked out in tutus! It will be magnificent, and of course, I’m wearing my favorite one – the full-length pink tutu with sparkles, what else? It's the perfect way to showcase that ballet isn't just about movement, it's about expressing yourself through graceful lines, breathtaking costumes and captivating storytelling, you know?

My quest for a tutu empire continues...

Until next time, darlings, let’s keep dancing to our heart’s content!

Love,

Emma x
