Pink Tutu Time Travel: June 1689 - A Ballet Journey Through Time!

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite time travelling ballerina, Emma, here, and I'm absolutely thrilled to whisk you away on a delightful journey back to June 1689!

Oh, before we go, have you seen my latest collection of pink tutus? I've just launched a brand new line called "Tutu Time Travellers", inspired by my fabulous adventures through time! I simply can't resist the allure of a swirling pink tutu, especially when paired with a touch of shimmering sparkle and a good dose of historical whimsy!

Now, let's mount my magnificent Magic Meg - my trusty pink shire steed with golden hooves and a flowing white mane and tail - and let her take us on a breathtaking ride through the annals of time.

1689 - A Time of Artistic Blooms

The year is 1689! Just imagine: towering wigs, extravagant courtly balls, and a bustling world brimming with art and creativity.

I've always loved the baroque era for its intricate details, passionate music, and, of course, its balletic marvels. You can just imagine, can't you, a lavishly decorated theatre with a grand audience, gasps of awe, and the swirling grace of dancers performing elegant ballets.

Ballet Under the Reign of Louis XIV

France, during the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV, was at the heart of European ballet. This era saw the development of grand ballets with intricate storytelling and lavish costumes. It was all about spectacle, extravagance, and intricate dance movements. Can you even imagine? To my delight, on this day, I could almost feel the vibrant pulse of "Le Ballet de la Princesse", which premiered earlier this year at the magnificent Palace of Versailles! Imagine my thrill, exploring this palace, which I find simply magnificent!

A Quick Peek into History's Ballet Wardrobe

Imagine myself flitting through the Palace of Versailles in my bright pink tutu! Of course, a ballerina in 1689 would not have donned such a vibrant shade! However, what they lacked in vibrant pinks, they certainly made up for with their lavish embroidery, feathered headdresses, and even the most glorious, ornate costumes imaginable! Imagine dancers wearing luxurious velvet coats, silk jackets, elaborate bonnets, and feathered trimmings. Just imagine all the gorgeous fabric choices - satins, velvets, and the sheerest silks! Now that’s a real ballet wardrobe to remember!

A Trip to the Market Place

From Versailles, it was on to the bustling marketplace of Paris, where, like me, you'll be met with a visual feast. It is amazing to think that dancers back then were even selling items from their own ballet class in the marketplace! So, just as I, a time-travelling ballet fanatic, offer my services and knowledge through this website and ballet classes in Derbyshire, so were these dancers showcasing their skills and providing dance lessons in their own way in the markets!

Finding Ballet Through the Ages

As my dear Magic Meg trots me through time, I’m so excited about collecting unique ballet-related memorabilia, like vintage dance books, original ballet scores, even little antique figurines depicting dancers! My rucksack is filled to the brim with these amazing treasures, each one a little story of a ballet in a time long past. Oh, the tales these trinkets tell! I feel as though I am unlocking secrets hidden for centuries, tucked away in corners of history. It’s simply fascinating. These snippets of history help me create my very own “Ballet History Archive”, and it feels fantastic to add more and more treasures from each trip!

From History's Past to Pink Tutus Present!

I love seeing how ballet, even from the time of Louis XIV, can inspire dancers today. We might be a few centuries away from the opulent Baroque style, but that elegance, precision and drama continue to enthral and enchant us in every dance. You know what, my dears, the message of dance, of beauty and grace, never gets lost. It crosses generations and centuries.

Of course, my love for pink never ceases, and it certainly wouldn’t be my blog without spreading the word: Pink tutus for everyone! From courtly balls of the 17th century to bustling city streets of 2023, a pink tutu is a wonderful way to add a dash of whimsical, flamboyant charm, wherever you find yourself! If you fancy a touch of this time travelling, historical, pink tutu fun, why not give your own pink tutu a twirl today?

Until next month, my darlings!

Love, Emma xx
