Pink Tutu Travels: 10th October, 1695 - Post 418

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, back with another delightful voyage into the past! Today, we’re stepping back into the shimmering world of ballet in the year 1695, specifically, the 10th of October. Now, I’m not sure about you, but that date has a certain "enchanting" ring to it, don't you think?

As you all know, my faithful steed, Magic Meg (she’s a pink, sparkly Shire with golden hooves and a white mane – absolutely divine!), is prepped and ready for our exciting journey. My rucksack, which you can practically hear jingle with the delights I've collected on past voyages, is prepped for more ballet-tastic discoveries!

Let me give you a little peek behind the curtain, literally! It seems that on the 10th October 1695, the world of ballet was ablaze with innovation, new talent and excitement, as it always seems to be. Although we don’t have much solid evidence for specific performances that day, this is where our imagination comes in. Imagine it, my darlings, a time when dancers danced in lavish gowns and courtly grace reigned supreme, an era filled with graceful waltzes and elegant gestures! This is the era when ballet started taking shape – a time that was ripe for both royal extravagance and intricate storytelling through movement.

Oh, but wait, I must tell you about what I was wearing, for this journey demands an elegant, albeit historical, costume, n'est-ce pas? You're probably imagining my signature bright pink tutu, right? But I always strive for a little time travel flair, so, on this voyage, I had donned a charming blush pink silken gown, embroidered with delicate flowers in shades of lilac and cream. You can bet the pockets were stuffed with silk ribbons for a dash of dramatic flourishment during my time in 1695! The shoes? I had slipped on the prettiest pastel pink satin slippers – and I’ll have to tell you about those in my next blog, as I discovered a new way to fashion a dainty ankle tie that made everyone gasp. Let’s just say the 17th century was more than ready to welcome a little “Emma style”.

I love these time travel journeys! It is through exploring and reliving these glorious days of ballet's rich past that I gather all these stories to bring to you, my cherished readers, about fashion, choreography, and life, which in itself is the greatest performance! Imagine discovering all the secrets that made these ballerinas such legends! Every journey offers such a unique experience and a valuable glimpse into ballet history.

And guess what, dear readers? While I'm here on my magical journey back to 1695, I found the most darling little boutique where the owner is offering a fascinating display of fabrics fit for the most opulent performance. I mean, imagine this – an exquisite lavender satin with intricate embroidery of dancing fairies? I almost bought the whole place, I admit, but Magic Meg's hoofs made such a dramatic stomp that it stopped me in my tracks. But that boutique is just brimming with potential for a few new and dazzling tutu designs - the possibilities are truly endless!

Did you know, my dearest pink-tutu enthusiasts, that ballet at this time was, you could say, a royal indulgence, enjoyed by only the privileged few? It was a world of powdered wigs, opulent attire and courtly decorum. But what makes this era so exciting is that it marks a crucial step in the evolution of ballet as we know it today! The introduction of new dance forms, a more dynamic use of space, and the growing interest in narrative through movement are all evident during this era!

Speaking of movement, don’t forget to check out the blog section on www.pink-tutu.com for a dance routine I whipped up. I got some inspiration from a beautiful wall mural at the theatre where I happened to stop by, showing the performance of "Le Ballet de la Royne" which was performed back in 1681. Can you believe, a dance performance choreographed by the Royal family, itself, a feat I find positively dazzling, my dears! The scene had a couple twirling amongst these beautiful figures of nymphs, the woman’s gown almost cascading from her shoulders as the dance progressed, and there were some dazzling ribbons flying through the air - it was as if she was dancing on clouds!

Oh my dears, this travel blog post could go on forever, so much to see, and feel, and discuss. But that’s just the beginning, I shall delve deeper into ballet history in our next time travel adventure - until then, I shall dream of those ballet moves in 1695 and their incredible stories. Stay tuned for more. And always remember, my darlings: It’s all about a bit of magic, a pinch of adventure, and a sprinkle of pink tutu glamour!

Au revoir, my little dance lovers! Until next time, may your steps be light and your days be filled with sparkle!
