Pink Tutu Time Travels: #440: The Parisian Ballet in 1697! 🩰✨

Hello darling readers! Welcome to the August installment of your favourite time-traveling ballerina's blog. I’m Emma, your pink tutu wearing friend, and today I'm whisking you away to August 1697, a time where ballet was truly taking centre stage in the Parisian world. You're probably wondering how I got there, right? Well, dear friends, it's all thanks to Magic Meg. You know her, my magnificent pink sparkling shire horse with golden hooves, a white mane like spun silk and a tail that shimmers like moonlight. We just hop on, whisper our wishes and poof! There we are. Magic, pure and simple.

I was delighted to discover that August 1697, dear friends, is brimming with ballet buzz. The stage was alive with beautiful performances, and Parisian society, it seems, were utterly enchanted with the elegant art form. As a ballerina with a passion for history, I couldn't resist sneaking a peek at the ballet world from centuries past. I’m all about soaking up history through every glittery seam of a tutu and every graceful pirouette, aren't you?

After landing in the enchanting heart of Paris, I donned my pink tulle tutu – pink, as always, is my lucky colour, and let me tell you, my friends, it turned heads! I always carry my leather rucksack (don’t forget, I’ve gotta pack all the amazing things I find!) – you can imagine how much excitement it held, brimming with ballet sketches, little programs from shows and anecdotes from dancers of yore.

The biggest highlight? Imagine a performance in the Salle des Machines at the Tuileries Garden, filled to bursting with elegantly dressed onlookers. A stunning array of ballets, all packed with theatrical beauty. One I'm particularly enthralled with is titled 'Les Amours de Psyché'. This magical story unfolds through song and dance, the plot revolving around a charming and mischievous cupid. Can't you picture it? Butterflies flitting, ethereal melodies drifting on the Parisian breeze... the enchantment simply doesn’t get much better than that.

Paris in 1697, let me tell you, was awash in theatrical splendour. Think cascading chandeliers casting sparkling light onto the stage, meticulously crafted costumes bursting with colour and pantomime, a symphony of swirling tutus, and exquisite performances, each bringing an enchanting story to life. Ballet, it seems, held its court in Paris, capturing the hearts and imagination of the most refined ladies and gentlemen. It was a glorious sight, my friends!

During my little excursion into time, I also learned something rather fascinating. At the time, the focus in the French Ballet world was moving away from mythological plots and embracing new narratives, even taking a turn for the humorous, and I must say, those themes are ever-so relatable. The story-telling of the ballerinas, the expressive grace of their movements and the pure artistry of their dancing had my heart truly dancing too!

My time in August 1697 filled me with inspiration for new routines. Maybe some charming, mischievous Cupid steps with a hint of Parisian flair for my upcoming performances in Derbyshire, do you think? Just picture it – my pink tutu, delicate and elegant, shimmering beneath the theatre lights! I'll keep you posted on my upcoming shows and will even give you some insight into the choreography. I'm really excited about what this Parisian adventure has inspired within me.

After saying farewell to the magical, buzzing heart of Paris, I rode with Magic Meg back home to Derbyshire. I was filled with the warmth and wonder of Parisian Ballet and thrilled by the beauty of a ballet that's so full of grace, elegance, and a sprinkle of Parisian charm. But let’s not forget, darling readers, my heart beats pink! Remember to pop by my website www.pink-tutu.com to catch up on my latest ballet posts and the exciting new projects I have in store. Don’t forget, my friends, pink is the new black… and definitely the new tutu! 🩰 💖
