Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu wearing time traveller, ready to whisk you away on another magical adventure! This month, we’re venturing back to the 10th of October 1697 – oh my, it’s practically bursting with ballet history! Grab your pinkest tutu (or just your wildest imagination) and hop aboard Magic Meg, my magnificent pink shimmering Shire horse with the most glorious white mane and tail and those oh-so-sparkly golden hooves, because we’re about to step back in time…
A Peek into Parisian BalletMy trusty leather rucksack is packed with eager anticipation, ready to be filled with the stories and treasures of the 17th century! The year is 1697, and we find ourselves in the bustling city of Paris. You know what that means – the home of French Baroque! Can you picture it? Elegant ladies and gentlemen in extravagant clothing, enjoying exquisite dances in opulent settings.
An Exciting Day for Ballet HistoryThis very date marks a very special occasion - the première of the Ballet de Cour 'L’amour vainqueur', choreographed by the illustrious Pierre Beauchamp. My, it's so exciting! I absolutely adore Ballet de Cour. It’s like ballet dipped in gilded glamour with exquisite costuming and graceful movements. Beauchamp is considered one of the most prominent dance masters of his time. And it was L'Amour Vainqueur that sparked his ideas about a new, simpler and more theatrical form of ballet… A ballet with stories! And guess what else?! This premiere brought to the Parisian stage the legendary, gasp, Monsieur Louis Pécour – a brilliant and beloved dancer who’s going to be making huge waves in the ballet world. My notes will be full to the brim, I can just feel it!
Time Travelling Fun in PinkWe may not have found pink tutus just yet, my dears, but there is definitely a certain style of feminine fashion that caught my eye back in 1697! Think ruffles, bows and elaborate panniers! You just have to imagine how incredible these dances looked in those flowing fabrics. It makes me wish I had a time machine for clothes as well! Now imagine those dancing on a Parisian stage in the late 17th century, dressed in lavish clothes and moving in a very distinct, elegant French style. That's the magic of Ballet de Cour.
The Pink-tutu.com World TourI love sharing the joy of ballet history with you, but it's not just the dancing that captures my heart. I’m utterly smitten by all things ballet, especially fashion! Of course, pink is the only colour that fits the bill! Imagine Monsieur Pécour dancing in a blush pink doublet with white ruffles – how absolutely divine! But let's be honest, even though pink might have been out of fashion in the late 17th century, the beauty and grace of these dance forms was absolutely mesmerising! And we all know how I feel about beauty and grace... pink tutus.
I am just dying to travel forward to a time where pink reigns supreme on stage. I mean, who wouldn’t be utterly charmed by the sight of a dozen dancers in a symphony of pink? It's pure visual magic!
Looking Back, Embracing the FutureTime travelling to historical ballet moments fills me with excitement. My pink-tutu.com blog is my passion project, where I can combine my love of dance history and pink fashion. And my adventures through time? Well, let's just say they are a constant source of inspiration!
From Derbyshire to 17th century Paris and back, it’s time to say farewell for now! Keep those eyes peeled for www.pink-tutu.com next month, where we'll be exploring the next exhilarating adventure.
In the meantime, darling readers, stay sparkling! Don't forget to follow your dreams and, most importantly, never forget the joy of twirling in your most beloved pink tutu!
