Pink Tutu Travels: Ballet in 1711 - 604

Hello my darling ballet bunnies!

Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com! April the 4th, 1711, was an absolutely delightful day for a trip back in time, wouldn't you agree? And trust me, it wouldn't be a time travel adventure without Magic Meg! My oh-so-sparkling pink Shire horse with her golden hooves and that flowing mane of white, well, she practically glows! This time, my trusty leather rucksack was brimming with anticipation and enough space for all the ballet treasures I knew I would find. I mean, it was 1711, so you just know some fab fashion and stories would be hiding in the corners of time, don't you?

This month, the excitement was truly bubbling because the entire world of ballet was going to be at the heart of my journey! But before I start chattering like a school girl at a tea party, let me share how I, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina, actually got to 1711!

Pink Tutu Fashion for a Trip Back in Time

My time travel outfits are an absolute art form, darling! After all, you don't want to be out of step with the past, even if your fashion is very much of the future! For a day of adventure in 1711, a soft pink satin tutu, the kind with an airy, romantic feel, felt utterly perfect. A wide sash tied into a big, flamboyant bow across the bodice was my homage to the opulent fashion of the time. Add a lacey bodice, pink satin slippers that sparkled with every move, and of course, a bit of sparkly tulle draping down from my bodice in delicate festoons, and there I was! You see, pink just seems to have a way of looking right in any century!

A Magical Gallop Back to 1711

Oh darling, where did I even begin in 1711?! Let me tell you! From the cobblestones of London, to the boudoirs of Paris, to the ballets of Vienna...it was simply magical! I loved watching the women in those exquisite gowns; you just know they all dreamt of dancing the night away! My little pink-tutu clad self was right at home amidst the ladies' pouffes and patches and all the ruffles, so much ruffles! Imagine - fashion where every detail is like a delicate ballet step - it was an absolute delight!

A Trip Down Theatre Lane...and Some Ballet History

The world of theatre was bursting with energy and I had to take Magic Meg to London's Drury Lane. It was at Drury Lane Theatre in London that ballets and operas really took flight. This was a place of creative energy where dancers, musicians, and singers, combined their talents in the grandest way! As you know, ballets in this time period weren't what we see today, but more of theatrical events with story-telling dances, like ballets based on historical events!

Can you imagine the stories they could tell? I mean, imagine me dancing with some truly breathtaking set design... and what about all the costumes? Swoon! I just want to step back in time and create something as beautiful! Maybe I will inspire my ballet students to design a ballet from the Georgian era. What do you think?

A Magical Whirl Through Fashion and Dancing in Vienna

Vienna, Austria, is where it was all happening for ballet in the 1700s. It's truly fascinating how the world of dance travels and evolves... Just imagine me riding Magic Meg through the heart of Austria's Imperial Court. Ballet was booming! You know it, darlings, ballet is a language understood throughout the world! At Vienna’s Burgtheater, dancing stars like Giovanni Gallini were captivating the audience. What I wouldn't have given to see their routines! The costumes! And the music, just imagine the sound of string and harp in those halls! And of course, dancing and entertainment were a cornerstone of life in the Court. In fact, if you were a lucky ballerina, you'd have a great life. Imagine that! A ballerina in a court! You'd get to travel and be adored and dress in gorgeous clothes all day. Not bad, eh!

It's Never Too Late To Find Your Tutu

And that, darlings, is how my time travel adventure in 1711 unfolded. There are so many reasons to wear a pink tutu: for fashion, for theatre, for joy! Pink just adds that special sparkle! So why not let yourself embrace that inner ballerina? Who knows what kind of time travel magic awaits you? But no matter where you travel, whether in the past or in your own community, let your spirit shine with the light of ballet! Until next time, let your dance fill your day, and never be afraid to let your inner ballerina take flight!

Keep dancing, darlings, and remember, it’s always a great day for a pink tutu!
