Pink Tutu Travels: 633 - September 9th, 1713! 🩰💖

Hello my darling ballet darlings! It's Emma here, and oh, darling, I am simply bursting with excitement! Today, I'm whisking us all off on a dazzling pink time-traveling adventure to none other than 9th September, 1713! My heart is absolutely fluttering at the thought of this trip, and my pink tutu is positively shimmering with anticipation!

For this little excursion, Magic Meg is feeling rather splendid, sporting her usual glistening, pink-hued coat. The little darling even sprouted a tiny sparkly rainbow mane today, just to celebrate! Her golden hooves are twinkling like a hundred tiny stars as we set off on our whirlwind journey.

What’s On in Ballet History, My Sweethearts!

On the 9th of September, 1713, the world of ballet was absolutely buzzing!

  • In France: The Paris Opera Ballet was already going strong, having established itself just a few decades prior in 1671. You might remember the first Ballet Master, the dashing Pierre Beauchamps, and the beautiful ballerinas showcasing the newest and most stunning ballets in the lavish Palais Royal. You just knew those fabulous, elaborate costumes would have been dazzling to see!
  • Across the Channel in England: Queen Anne’s Ballet Master, John Weaver, was wowing the royal court and audiences alike with new innovative choreographic styles. This time period, darlings, was the birthplace of modern ballet, as John was breaking the mold with the first ever serious attempts at expressive movement! Fancy that!

Just imagine the elegant dancing, the sweeping tutus (yes, dear reader, even back then there were skirts, albeit a bit different from our dazzling modern ones), and the intricate footwork. It would have been absolutely magnificent! And of course, I've already packed my notebook and my pink-satin bag with the most gorgeous costume swatches! They say Queen Anne herself had a wardrobe fit for a queen, so I'll have to do some digging around for the most divine, regal bits.

A Ballerina’s Fashion Find!

My biggest treasure find in 1713, you won't believe this, my dear reader, was an exquisite little shop in London, crammed with silk, feathers, and beads. It was pure fashion heaven! I practically swoomed. Now, it wouldn't have been entirely pink (though there was definitely a delicate, rosy pink velvet!), but the colours were truly fabulous. Oh, to have designed the tutus of the period! What a glorious time to have been alive!

Our Ballet Adventure Starts Here!

So, let's hop on Magic Meg's back and take off! Remember to bring your fanciest ballet slippers - because once we reach our destination, we're going to whirl and pirouette to our heart’s content. And maybe, just maybe, we'll even manage to convince everyone to wear a beautiful, fluffy, pink tutu – it wouldn't be quite so hard in a century of such colourful style!

And lastly, darlings, I want you to remember it’s our mission to celebrate the beautiful, elegant, and absolutely magical world of ballet! So let's spread the word and encourage everyone to join the pink-tutu revolution.

Remember to keep visiting pink-tutu.com for the latest ballet time travel adventures. See you next month, my lovely lovelies! X
