Pink Tutu Time Travel: Blog Post #654: June 6th, 1715

Hello my gorgeous fellow ballet lovers! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing time traveller, back with another exciting blog post. Buckle up, darlings, as we take a trip back in time to the year 1715!

It's June the 6th, 1715 and I'm riding on Magic Meg's back, the sparkle of her pink mane a dazzling sight against the morning sky. We're heading to a little known ballet company in Paris - they say they are quite experimental!

Can you imagine a world without tutu's? It seems unthinkable to me, doesn't it? But today we're in a time where ballerinas are still finding their feet - pun intended! - and there's a whole lot of experimenting going on in the world of dance. I'm really keen to see how they move.

We arrived at the quaint theatre, cobblestones rattling under Meg's hooves, and, goodness me, it was so different from the theatres we see today! Think small, candle-lit, intimate and oh-so-charming!

A hush fell over the audience, then, a melody drifted into the air. I have to confess, my dear readers, that my pink tulle felt a little out of place. The costumes were quite...plain - think flowing gowns and a sprinkling of sparkly adornment. The ladies were graceful, nimble, and filled with the most breathtaking grace. But no tutus, darlings! Can you imagine?!

My backpack filled with stories, some sketches of the dance, and even a few bits of fabric. The colours! They remind me of the beautiful silk ribbons I love using for my tutus. It's a real treasure trove for me.

One thing that absolutely astounded me was the lack of dance schools for young dancers. They seemed to just...emerge! Imagine finding a tiny ballerina dancing in the street and teaching her everything you know! How amazing!

After a delicious afternoon tea, fuelled by raspberry tart and clotted cream, Meg and I made our way to a ballet academy - and this time there was dancing!

Imagine, the room was crammed with students of all ages and, well, they weren't in tutus, but they had on their dainty little silk dresses and oh, they danced! With such grace and beauty, their feet tapping, their hands fluttering. They were even performing steps we would recognize! They reminded me of the ballet dancers I see every weekend in London!

Oh, and you wouldn't believe it, I bought a stunning hat! You know me, love a good hat! A wide brimmed hat with velvet ribbon and lace - a lovely antique treasure I'm certain to add to my collection! It feels just like I was destined to find it!

Now, tell me, are you dancing today? I love hearing about all the amazing things my followers are doing, and don't forget, every day is a chance to bring a little pink tutu magic to the world. Don't be shy, spread some pink joy!

Until next month, stay safe, stay beautiful, and most importantly, stay tutu-ful!

XOXO, Emma
