Pink Tutu Time Travels: A Ballerina's Journey Through Time - Post #716 - August 8th, 1720

Hello lovelies! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Time Travels! It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, I'm just so excited about this month's journey! Grab your favourite cuppa, put on your most sparkly tutu (pink, of course!), and let's take a whirlwind tour through time, back to August 8th, 1720.

You see, darlings, I've been absolutely devouring my ballet history books lately, and I discovered that this very day was quite the milestone for the world of ballet! Can you believe it? Our beloved art form was actually evolving at a rather spectacular pace back in the early 18th century.

Whizzing Through Time with Magic Meg

As usual, I’ve got Magic Meg, my magnificent pink-sparkling shire horse, saddled up and ready for adventure. We just adore travelling together. She knows exactly where to go in time - just a gentle stroke on her magical golden hoof and a whispered date, and off we go.

Today, I'm sporting my favourite tulle tutu in a delightful shade of bubblegum pink – I think the colour will certainly be the talk of the town! The sun is shining and I’ve popped my latest vintage-inspired ballet bag filled with ballet trinkets and keepsakes onto my back. After all, collecting precious moments and stories is a crucial part of my time-traveling journey.

Ballet in the City of Lights: Paris, 1720

Now, buckle up, because we’re headed to Paris – the city that has always had a special place in the heart of any ballet lover! Imagine cobblestone streets bustling with elegant carriages and charming Parisian life in the backdrop. It's so utterly romantic.

In 1720, the Académie Royale de Musique (the Parisian Opera) was thriving with ballet performances and the creative brilliance of Louis XIV still echoed through the grand halls. That day, the spotlight was shining brightly on a ballet-drama entitled Les Fêtes Vénitiennes. The audience was enthralled by the drama and romance unfolding onstage - the costumes were exquisite, the movements precise, and the emotions conveyed were powerful. I just love that the magic of ballet was already captivating audiences in this time period!

From Parisian Streets to My Derbyshire Studio

We’ve now zipped back to my little studio in Derbyshire. The peace and quiet of the English countryside is a welcome change after the buzz of Paris. You know what they say - a change is as good as a rest! My mind is overflowing with inspiration. My journal is crammed with ideas for a new tutu design, based on the elegant fabrics I’ve observed in my journey to Paris. And guess what? It’s definitely going to be pink. You can always count on me to embrace the magic of pink tutus, darlings!

Celebrating The Ballerina

I’ve been taking a lot of ballet class lately - it keeps me fit and agile for all this time travel! It also helps me to understand and appreciate the discipline and dedication of ballet dancers, past and present.

As I stretch and plie, I find myself daydreaming of all the fabulous dancers I've encountered through my travels. I remember the grace of Marie Camargo, the elegance of Marie Sallé, and the dramatic flair of Louis Dupré - all trailblazers who shaped the art of ballet into what we know and adore today! I’ve also had the opportunity to learn from legendary dance teachers in eras past, soaking up their invaluable expertise and their passion for the art form. You see, it's not just about dancing - it's about celebrating the art form and the people who bring it to life!
