Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, and this month we're jetting back in time to 3rd March 1721! My trusty steed, Magic Meg, our majestic pink shimmering Shire horse with golden hooves and a mane and tail like spun sugar, was chomping at the bit for this one. We're off to France, and what better day to be there than the opening of the Paris Opéra, a majestic spectacle fit for a ballet-loving princess!
Before we hop on board Magic Meg, let's chat a little about balletic history. It was all about "Le Ballet Royal" at this time - these big, extravagant courtly productions, often featuring gods, goddesses, and fantastical creatures. The costumes? Imagine silk brocades, feathers, and glittering jewels - oh, the glamour! There wasn't a tutus on stage in 1721 (don't you worry, my dears, we'll change that!). But there was some serious skill, incredible music, and dancing that made the audience hold their breath.
Now, let's get on with the adventure! The journey wasn't without its drama (a minor scare involving a rogue squirrel who seemed to be having an aversion to pink!), but we arrived at the Palais-Royal where the Paris Opéra was located. Can you imagine? I'm dancing in front of royalty in the most beautiful theatre. Imagine, chandeliers like shimmering stars, walls lined with elegant paintings - simply divine.
You'd never believe it, but today's highlight was a performance called "L'amour triomphe". It was divine! We have to thank Michel de la Barre, the musical genius behind it all, for such a masterpiece. Think classical music with all the emotions, power, and joy of a great ballet story. I found out they have ballrooms for performances! I mean, imagine performing under the glow of chandeliers... Talk about inspiring!
While I can't take you back in time personally, my lovely readers, I can tell you all about it!
Imagine - it's a day filled with incredible fashion, magnificent costumes, and dazzling dances. But not a single pink tutu! Don't worry my dears, my ballet rucksack is ready! With my trusty sewing supplies in tow, it is my mission to share the wonders of ballet - and pink!
Remember, if you can dream it, you can do it! Don't ever forget the power of a pink tutu, a dash of glitter, and a bit of ballet magic. And remember to always twirl with confidence, my dear.
Until next time, my loves!
Yours in pink,
Emma
