Pink Tutu Time Travels: Episode #726 - A 1721 Parisian Waltz! 🩰💕

Hello darlings! It's your favourite time-travelling ballerina, Emma, back with another whimsical adventure through the annals of ballet history. This month, I've journeyed to the enchanting city of Paris, June 6th, 1721, riding my magnificent pink steed, Magic Meg.

I always say, Paris has a special charm, even back in the 1700s! Stepping out of my time-travelling portal (which, of course, looks just like a beautiful stage door), I was instantly transported back in time. Think cobblestone streets, bustling markets, and carriages drawn by fine horses!

My senses were alight! The air was crisp with the scent of fresh bread, and the sound of laughter and conversation drifted through the narrow alleyways. I knew this was a city brimming with creativity and beauty.

Ballet's Parisian Bloom

Speaking of beauty, I had to see what Parisian ballet was like back then! In this time period, the dance world was bursting with innovation and excitement. It was right in the middle of the Baroque period, where grand, elaborate choreography and extravagant costumes reigned supreme. The steps, known as the "ballet de cour," were truly magnificent! Imagine flowing, intricate patterns set against the backdrop of ornate palaces. I could picture it as if I were right there in the courtly ballet!

And where better to get a glimpse than the Royal Academy of Music, the hub for everything Parisian ballet. They had the leading dancers and choreographers of the era! This time travel trip wouldn't be complete without witnessing some exquisite dance artistry.

Imagine my excitement when I saw Louis XIV’s Ballet de la Reine, featuring the master ballet master of his time, Jean-Baptiste Lully! It was an extraordinary performance, showcasing his signature grand style.

Oh, and the costumes! Can you picture the opulent gowns, embroidered in gold and silver, feathers flowing like wings? The elegance of the period simply captivated me. It's no wonder I packed my own shimmering pink tutu to blend right in!

French Fashion Flair

Talking of blending in, I took the chance to explore Parisian fashion back in 1721. I mean, this era's style was so captivating! Picture silk gowns, laced bodices, and towering wigs adorned with delicate flowers. I’m pretty sure I spent at least half a day simply gawking at the elaborate fabrics, the exquisite colours, and the masterful craftsmanship.

You can bet I took the opportunity to pick up a few fashion inspirations for my next dance routine! You know, a little vintage inspiration goes a long way in making my routines more vibrant.

Gathering Memories and Ballet Treasures

Of course, a trip back in time wouldn’t be complete without filling my leather rucksack with ballet memorabilia. This month, my haul was extraordinary! Imagine my delight at finding a hand-drawn ballet score, handwritten in an elegant cursive script. And then there was a book of “La Fontaine’s Fables,” which features a few original ballets inspired by these fables! Talk about a ballet lover’s dream! I’ve also collected some fascinating costume sketches and even a set of miniature, intricately carved shoes from the era! It’s amazing how many fascinating historical snippets you can discover when you journey back in time.

Embracing Pink Everywhere!

My time travel adventures always give me fresh ideas for sharing my love for ballet with the world. You see, I truly believe that pink tutus have the power to unite the world. I have this unshakeable conviction, so every month, I weave my journeys into my website www.pink-tutu.com – an online haven where you can learn about all things pink and ballet!

This month, my goal is to bring some of 1721’s Parisian flair to your own ballet world. Picture vibrant pink tutus against the backdrop of a grand ballroom, the swish of your skirt a breathtaking visual against the ornate setting. And then, the most magnificent choreography – inspired by Louis XIV’s ballet de cour – complete with a twirl that would even make the King himself envious!

Oh, don't forget, I also funded this amazing journey by performing at several prestigious ballet venues. Sharing my passion for ballet through performance allows me to experience the magic of these amazing historical periods first-hand.

Until next month, keep on twirling and dreaming, darlings! Don’t forget to follow me on www.pink-tutu.com, and embrace your inner ballerina with a pink tutu!

Yours always,

Emma xx
