Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to Pink Tutu, where it's always time to twirl! 🩰✨ It's the first of March, and guess what? We're hopping back on Meg's majestic back for another history-hopping adventure! This month we're twirling our way to 1728, ready to catch a glimpse of the world of ballet at the time, and of course, hunt for the perfect vintage pink tutu to add to my collection!
A Pink Paradise on Meg's BackOkay, so my travel essentials for a trip back in time are always my pinkest, most delightful tutu (a gorgeous silk one with delicate lace trim, perfect for the Rococo era), my sparkly pink ballet shoes, a tiny velvet crown for added drama, and a leather rucksack for collecting historical treasures, all nestled snugly under a delicate pink feather boa!
And let's not forget Meg, my beautiful pink sparkling shire horse! With golden hooves and a mane like a billowing cloud of silk, she is the perfect pink partner in crime for time travel, and we love to ride in style.
Today's journey? It's off to Paris! My favorite city in the world, full of historical charm and hidden pockets of art and inspiration! Paris has always been a ballet powerhouse and this trip has me in a twirling tizzy
* The Parisian Ballet Scene in 1728*
Now, 1728 is a time of transition for French ballet! We’ve just left behind the opulent Baroque era and are moving towards the light-hearted, elegant Rococo era. This means lighter costumes, elegant steps, and a greater focus on pantomime. I'm so eager to witness how this evolution unfolds!
In Paris, the Opéra de Paris is the grand ballet centre and is home to the Académie Royale de Danse, a prestigious institution where some of the greatest ballerinas of the day trained and showcased their artistry! You can bet we’re going to spend time at both places today!
### Ballet Fashion: A Delicate Twirl
I love the way fashion intertwines with ballet! In 1728, French ladies of fashion wore corsets and flowing gowns with a sophistication that’s truly inspiring. I imagine those gorgeous silhouettes flowing in perfect sync with the dancers on the stage! There’s a sense of feminine beauty in those garments that makes my heart skip a beat, just like a perfect fouetté!
### A Royal Encounter with History?
Today we’ll also be paying a visit to the magnificent Versailles Palace – it's home to King Louis XV. You never know who we might run into during our explorations, right? Maybe we’ll catch the Royal Ballet performance!
I have my eyes set on finding a stunning vintage tutu with pastel pink embroidery, that's the essence of Rococo era ballet fashion! My collection will be a little bit regal when I add that beauty to it!
### Join Me for More Ballet Magic

Until then, dance your way through your day and don’t forget to put on your favorite pink tutu!
