Pink Tutu Travels: A 1753 Ballet Adventure (Post #1113)

Hello my darling tutu-wearers! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballerina blogger Emma, and I’m thrilled to be back with you today, ready to whisk you off on another spectacular ballet adventure. This month, I'm galloping back to September 9th, 1753, and trust me, you won’t want to miss this one!

A Gallop through Time with Magic Meg

As always, my trusty steed, Magic Meg, and I have been practicing our time-hopping technique. Meg's gleaming white mane and tail shimmer like spun sugar in the moonlight, her pink sparkles glinting under the stars, and her golden hooves barely touch the ground as we gracefully glide through the centuries. She’s truly a marvel of equine elegance and the best travelling companion a girl could ask for!

1753: Where Fashion Met Theatre

Upon arriving in London in the heart of 1753, the first thing I noticed was the breathtaking energy of the theatre scene. It’s the Golden Age of Ballet, darling! It’s exhilarating! While dancing has been a beloved art form for centuries, this period is where it truly exploded in popularity and became a major force in the arts world. The ladies were captivated by the graceful movements of the dancers and the flamboyant costumes, and everyone wanted a piece of the action. The theatres were abuzz with the sound of applause, and the streets overflowed with dancers and spectators eager to share in the magic.

Fashion Fit for a Tutu

Now, let’s talk about the fashions! The gentlemen of the day looked rather dapper, clad in their finely tailored suits and powdered wigs. But my eye was on the ladies, those beautiful belles who truly understood the power of a stunning silhouette! Think cascading fabrics, elegant lace, and – yes, you heard it right – corsets. I’m not saying it was always comfortable, but the ladies carried it all with an air of refinement and confidence that I find absolutely inspiring!

Now, you know how much I adore pink and I'm always looking for inspiration for the perfect tutu. I've got a feeling I might just need to pay a little visit to one of London's best haberdasheries, and see if I can’t find a truly divine shade to inspire my next pink creation!

The Stage is Set: A Look at 1753 Ballet

Oh, and the ballet, darling! It was truly something special. The performers were so elegant and expressive! One particular dancer who caught my eye was Madame Camargo, who had such a captivating stage presence! She revolutionized ballet in her time with her leaps, turns and athleticism – the ballerina world has a lot to thank her for! It seems 1753 was the year that the iconic “Pas de deux”, that breathtakingly beautiful duet that takes two dancers through intricate steps, took the world by storm. Imagine two souls dancing together in perfect harmony – pure magic!

My satchel is full of 1753 ballet ephemera, which is where my trusty, feather-light notebook shines! The stories and snippets of ballet history from each era I travel to inspire my blog and my upcoming dance performances, so don’t worry, all of you tutu-wearers will be sure to experience the magic of this moment soon.

Sharing the Tutu Love

Back in the world of 2023, we’re all about celebrating every colour and every style, which means that, darling, every tutu is worthy of love and admiration! So, whether you prefer your tutu to be frilly and pink like mine or more on the edgy and contemporary side, you’ve got my vote for embracing your individuality through the universal language of ballet. Let’s create a world where everyone can find their perfect tutu!

I can’t wait to share my adventures with you next month – until then, keep on dancing and stay beautiful, darling!

Love,

Emma x
