Post #1140: Dancing Back in Time to 12th December 1755! 🩰💖

Hello my lovelies! Welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com! I'm Emma, your ever-so-pink ballerina, ready to whisk you away on another magical journey through time! This month, we're stepping back into history to the 12th of December 1755 - a date that holds special significance for all us dance lovers, even if it wasn't exactly the most joyous of occasions…

Now, you might be wondering how we, with our ballet shoes and pink tutus, manage to navigate such a historical setting. Well, my darlings, let me introduce you to the one and only Magic Meg, my shimmering, pink, and oh-so-sparkly Shire horse. She's got the most luscious, flowing white mane and tail and golden hooves that sparkle even under the dimmest of moonlight. Meg takes me where I need to go, whisking us through time and space with a magical snort and a flick of her magnificent tail.

On this particular journey, Meg galloped us back to Lisbon, Portugal, which on the 12th of December, 1755, was sadly struck by a devastating earthquake. We arrived just as the earth started to rumble, sending tremors throughout the city. Imagine, all the wonderful, delicate beauty of ballet swirling through the air in a moment like that! As we gracefully made our way through the panicking crowd, Meg steered clear of the falling buildings. Thankfully, I had my trusty rucksack, stuffed full with precious stories from past centuries, securely strapped on my back. It wouldn’t do to lose such precious gems, you know!

While it was a terrible day for Lisbon, it’s incredible to think how people still sought out solace and connection even amidst such chaos. Imagine dancing, a beautiful ballet performed beneath the trembling sky, offering a fleeting moment of beauty in the face of destruction. Even during such tragic times, art and movement remained a source of hope and expression.

Back to our journey – I was intrigued to find that Lisbon was quite the hub for dance during this era! I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of an improvised performance – a young lad showing off some energetic steps in the main square. It was such a lovely touch of elegance amid the uncertainty! This young fellow, he danced with a wild, carefree abandon that reminded me of our beloved contemporary styles. The music was quite lively, a bit more folk-like, with strings and a touch of brass – perfect for the spirited movement. It gave me such a longing to share the graceful, fluid beauty of the ballet with these delightful folk. Maybe next time I’ll find a way to subtly introduce a touch of pink and tulle, you know, just a little hint of magic!

Speaking of magic, this time around I stumbled upon something really quite special tucked away in an antique shop near the River Tagus. Just imagine – a hand-painted, ivory fan, delicately decorated with flowers and scrolls. It was a beautiful little thing, oh so intricate. As I twirled it around my fingers, I could feel the whisper of elegance, of grace. I had to bring it home! Imagine dancing with such an exquisite fan, a touch of old-world elegance that’s as beautiful as our pink tutus, don't you think?

Now, back to our modern times, as the chill of December seeps into our bones, a touch of vibrant colour always brightens the day! How delightful is this trend in the contemporary dance world where pink tutus are making such a dramatic and glamorous comeback? Pink has been all the rage in the world of fashion, with everyone embracing a sense of whimsical playfulness – a tendency I certainly applaud!

And just as it did back in Lisbon, ballet continues to captivate us with its elegance and artistry. Every step, every pirouette, tells a story of resilience and wonder. So as the world dances around us, my darlings, don't hesitate to let your spirit take flight and find the magic in every step, every pirouette!

For now, my dears, I bid you adieu. It’s time for me to pack up the memories I collected, my gorgeous ivory fan safely tucked inside my rucksack. Magic Meg and I are off to our next time travel escapade!

Until next time, remember to keep shining and dancing! Stay pink, stay magical! 💖🩰
