Post Number 1172: A Pink Tutu Travels Through Time - 8th August, 1758

Hello, lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite time-travelling ballerina, back with another glimpse into the glorious world of dance! Today, we're going back in time - waaaay back, to 8th August, 1758. Now, that’s a year that gets my pink-tutu heart fluttering! Don’t worry, darling, Magic Meg, my trusty steed, is all prepped and ready to whisk us through the centuries. She’s looking particularly radiant today, her white mane gleaming like moonlight, and those golden hooves! They are divine, simply divine.

Buckle up, girls, because we’re taking a trip to London town! As you all know, I just love the rich history of ballet in London!

It’s August, the heart of summer, and London's theatre scene is buzzing. If you’re looking for an unforgettable performance, you need to head over to Covent Garden. Imagine, darling, the iconic Royal Opera House, a true spectacle for the senses. Sadly, no ballet is happening this August, but if we rewind a little, in the years before, we can find amazing ballets playing. In 1755, a piece called ‘The Loves of Mars and Venus’ captured London's hearts, the ultimate love story told through beautiful movements, divine costumes and a story as sparkling as Magic Meg's hooves! What's not to love about a show with romance, drama, and stunning ballet, all rolled into one, darling!

But here’s the catch: I love me some theatre, but back in these days, a pink tutu would be seen as oh so shocking! Can you even imagine the scandal! It wouldn’t fly back in the 1700s, they loved their traditional ballet styles, very strict. And no tutu! No pink tutu, a huge shame! I’m dying to bring my 21st century style to these past centuries. I wonder if I should create a vintage tutu inspired by that time! Hmm!

Now, what’s inside my ballet bag from 1758? Ooh, some of these beautiful embroidered silk dance shoes have been in there for ages. Imagine, the delicate artistry of stitching! They look absolutely perfect with a long dress, such grace, oh la la! It is all about elegant and elaborate gowns in the era, nothing too shocking! A complete contrast to today’s dance wear! And let’s not forget the fans! I spotted a gorgeous one with the Royal Family crest on it. I’m always up for a little vintage shopping, especially when it comes to ballet! So chic, don't you think?

I hope you all loved our journey to London town, darling. Next month we’ll journey somewhere else! I have so many stories to tell you, but it’s time for me to catch up with the local Derbyshire news! Until then, don’t forget to live, laugh, and dance in your pink tutu!

Lots of love, Emma x
