Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your pink tutu-clad time travelling ballerina, and welcome to post number 1193 on www.pink-tutu.com!
This month, I’m taking you back to a time when ballet was just beginning to truly flourish. 5th May, 1760 – picture this, ladies! A date that echoes with the energy of innovation and growth! I bet you’re all wondering what I found in my travels this month, and I’ll tell you – it’s a truly enchanting tale!
Magic Meg Gallops Us To Paris!
My trusty steed, the dazzling Magic Meg – a shimmering pink Shire with hooves of gold and a white mane and tail – pranced us straight to the heart of Paris this time! Imagine the bustling streets, the elegant carriage rides, the salons brimming with conversation! My rucksack is packed with precious snippets of ballet history – I can feel the thrill in the air just thinking about it!
A Peek Into Parisian Ballet!
You see, 1760 marked a time of dramatic transformation for ballet! Imagine – it was then that Madame Camargo, the French ballerina who was an absolute legend of her time, shocked the world with a daring innovation! Imagine this, darling: she dared to wear short skirts, exposing her ankles! Oh, the scandal, the uproar, but also, the groundbreaking change that led to the elegant, captivating performances we know and love today.
Think about this, girls: this incredible change, brought about by this pioneering spirit, set a precedent for the future. It opened the doors for the dancers, allowing them to be the graceful, beautiful beings they are meant to be!
And that’s just one highlight from this glorious period!
Royal Delights & Ballroom Splendour
Another reason to love 1760? Think, dear ones – a royal wedding! Princess Marie Thérèse, the beautiful daughter of the King of France, walked down the aisle, adding more grandeur and joy to this exciting time. Now, you all know what that meant! Lots of opulent dances, ballrooms alive with dazzling gowns, and a truly grand affair fit for royalty!
But you see, dear girls, that’s not all – it wasn’t just about the extravagance, you see! These balls were an opportunity for dancers, for men and women alike, to express their artistry through dance, making the most of each step, each turn! What a wonderful scene!
Shopping For Ballet Inspirations
I couldn’t resist stopping in a little Parisian shop, a quaint haven of exquisite lace, satins, and silk. Oh, how those colours, those fabrics inspired the dancing that took place! I carefully collected a scrap of satin in a dreamy shade of blue and a spool of the finest thread – reminders of the creativity and grace that blossomed in 1760.
Sharing The Magic: My Time-Traveling Diary
Oh, my darlings, this time travel adventure was truly a delightful experience! Each moment, each dance, each costume filled my little ballet-filled heart with joy. My diary is now filled with enchanting details – from the shimmering chandeliers to the elegance of the French court, it’s like I can hear the melodies from this magical period swirling around me!
From Past To Present: Bringing The Magic Home!
My trip to 1760 left me brimming with ideas for my ballet practice and my next performance. What about those beautiful, short skirts? Think of how gracefully they accentuate every step, and I even managed to find some amazing satin and lace inspired by the grand period – you bet they will be part of my next choreography, so watch this space!
