Welcome, darlings, to my 1257th Pink Tutu Time Travel blog post! As usual, I'm your charming, eternally optimistic host, Emma, and this month we're swirling back to 9th September, 1765! My sparkly steed, Magic Meg (who just adores her pink silk ribbons, you know), is already pawing at the door, eager to gallop us through the mists of time.
It's a beautiful day in Derbyshire, just like any other day I start planning my next ballet adventures. As always, my rucksack (a perfect shade of pink, naturally!) is brimming with excitement and the anticipation of new ballet tales to uncover. Last night, I was absolutely entranced by a divine performance of "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House, the choreography simply stunning, and the dancers so effortlessly elegant. I was, of course, wearing my blush-pink tutu and my sparkly silver pumps – a ballet look is always the perfect choice for any event, my dears!
The new collections for the autumn season are also looking absolutely divine, and you know I just adore fashion! So many vibrant, exciting colours, textures, and styles - and of course, pink is at the forefront. Imagine a graceful swirl of soft pink tulle, shimmering under the stage lights – that’s my dream. And we can’t forget the glorious new ballet shoes: pointy, graceful, with a touch of pink. Every dancer's dream!
Speaking of dream-like worlds, let’s set our sights back to 1765. Imagine a time where the air is filled with the rustling of silks, the enchanting music of the harpsichord, and the delightful charm of the pre-Romantic period in ballet! Just picture it - powdered wigs and lace gowns swirling amidst graceful leaps and delicate bourrées! Isn't it all utterly delightful?
It's said that the iconic dancer Marie Sallé made her last stage appearance in Paris on this very day. Imagine a breathtaking spectacle, a dance of extraordinary beauty that still reverberates through the centuries!
However, while Paris is bustling with theatrical delights, ballet is taking a slightly different route in the English countryside. As a dear friend from Derbyshire would say, "It’s a right good ol’ fashioned affair in England".
