Pink Tutu Time Travel: July 7th, 1768! 🩰✨ (Post #1291)

Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be back with you all today. This month, Magic Meg and I are jetting back to the glorious 1768, landing smack-bang on the 7th of July! Now, before we dive into the fabulous happenings of the ballet world, I've just got to show you this absolutely darling find!

Remember I mentioned I've got a new obsession with finding historical ballet slippers? Well, during my last jaunt to the 1800s, I stumbled upon the most delightful pair! Imagine a delicate silk slipper, crafted from the softest pink, with a gentle curve to the sole – oh, it was just divine! It's now snugly tucked into my leather rucksack, safe and sound. My goal, darlings, is to find the most breathtaking ballet shoe from each era – a time capsule of elegance!

Anyway, back to the glorious 17th century!

1768 was a year bursting with exciting things, and it just has to be included in our ballet journey. Just think, in Derbyshire, where I call home, the Peak District was already a hub for walks and excursions – just imagine exploring those hills in a floaty pink tutu, darling! Now, the big event of this date is not in the ballet world, no no. This date is actually incredibly significant in the history of music – the legendary Mozart was born on July 27th! How amazing is that?! We are just one step away from this phenomenal musical genius! I simply have to make sure my next trip takes me to Salzburg!

But let's not forget about ballet! While 1768 may not be renowned for major ballet premieres, it was still a period of incredible innovation. Now, if we take a closer look at the Paris Opera Ballet, that would have been a place humming with artistic brilliance. I just imagine it – the exquisite Parisian theatre, glittering with crystal chandeliers and candlelight, a sense of theatre that still whispers through the ages!

And as you know, I’m all about fashion, darlings! Can you imagine the gowns worn at the French Royal Court in this era? Just the sheer volume of fabric, the luxurious silks, and the extravagant colours! They wouldn’t wear a pink tutu as I do, but I wouldn't be surprised if the court ladies would get some inspiration from ballet dancers' elegant movements and exquisite dresses. We are after all, influencing trends for centuries now! It’s all thanks to the sheer grace of ballerinas, isn’t it? 🩰

Ballet fashion is something I adore researching. I find it fascinating how ballet costumes have evolved. Just imagine those tiny, elegant tutus they wore back in 1768! All perfectly tailored, like tiny masterpieces, wouldn't you say? It was still all about beautiful classical movements. Now, back then, you didn't necessarily see pantomimes, or what we call ballet now. The shows were more akin to opera – beautiful music with lots of expressive movement and dancing, but maybe a tad more stiff, more elegant – definitely a stark contrast to our ballet street performances!

You know I just adore visiting the Opera Garnier in Paris. It’s one of my most favourite spots for feeling the grandeur of 1800s fashion and ballet. You simply must see the paintings of the exquisite dancing beauties by Degas. He is simply my favourite for painting ballet! It truly captures that elegant grace of dancers I love so much.

But let’s not just sit and ponder, darlings! 🩰 We’ve got to celebrate! What’s better than ballet, a good ballet show, and a gorgeous ballet-themed fashion shoot, wouldn't you say?! I’m planning to organize a special "Pink Tutu Day" this month to celebrate my time travelling adventure! Maybe you could put on your very best pink tutu and have your very own photoshoot! Don’t forget to send your photos to me – I want to see them all!

Oh, and you absolutely must check out my Pink-Tutu Shoppe, it's where I collect and sell some of the divine finds from my time travelling journeys. It's filled with one-of-a-kind gems – the sort that would make any ballerina's heart skip a beat. Who knows what delightful vintage treasures we might discover in time!

Now, I’m off to plan my next ballet-themed escapade, but remember to visit www.pink-tutu.com for new blog posts every month, darlings! And please, tell me what you think of my latest travel! I can’t wait to see your comments!

Stay stylish, stay dreamy, and remember, always wear pink,

Emma xx
