Hello darling dears! Emma here, back with another incredible adventure from the Pink Tutu Time Machine.
This month, we're pirouetting back to 1771, 10th October! That's right, my lovelies, a trip to the 18th century, and with me, my trusty sidekick, Magic Meg โ the most gorgeous, sparkling, pink Shire horse you've ever seen!
Just imagine it, dear readers. The air is crisp, the leaves are starting to change, and I'm gliding through the streets in my favourite bubblegum pink tutu, looking every bit the Parisian ballerina.
Oh, did I mention that I've just completed my weekly performance at the Bolshoi Theatre, and earned enough to fund my latest trip back in time?
You see, my dear ballet lovers, the world of ballet is just as dazzling and captivating as the tutus we wear! The Bolshoi is absolutely fantastic!
And the shopping... oh, the shopping! There's so much beautiful ballet-inspired fashion in the 21st century. I simply cannot resist picking up some gorgeous, delicate pink ribbons to add to my ever-growing collection. I've even found some perfectly pastel-coloured pointe shoes that I can't wait to show you!
Back to my adventures in 1771.
This date in history marks a significant moment in the ballet world โ The premiere of a charming little piece called "Les Amours de Vรฉnus." Now, dear readers, the ballet isn't one that's left its mark on the world of dance, but it's fascinating for the history buffs amongst you. The ballet took place in Vienna and is best described as a charming, delightful entertainment โ imagine something with whimsical, enchanting qualities, reminiscent of the delicate movements of the French Ballet.
Imagine it! A light, whimsical dance! Such elegance and grace! As always, darling readers, I will try to track down some pictures of "Les Amours de Vรฉnus," so you can see what the costumes looked like. Imagine the intricate detail of the silk, the elegant lines of the choreography! Pure ballet magic!
While we were there, I snuck a peak at the Royal Court's "ballet of the court." These were delightful, elaborate and dramatic dance pieces, showcasing all the best in choreography of the era! Sadly, my leather rucksack is getting quite full and I can't squeeze any more in for the trip back to 2023!
And while I'm on the topic of my rucksack, it's already brimming with delightful things, treasures gathered during our time-travelling journey: a piece of ribbon, a delicately embroidered garment from a 1771 "ballet de cour," even a tiny little pointe shoe โ though, of course, they didn't have pointe shoes in 1771! How I wish I could have travelled even further back in time! Oh, it would be delightful to see what ballet looked like in the times of the Pharaohs!
Anyway, enough of my blathering on.
I hope you all have enjoyed another peek into the world of ballet history through the lens of my Pink Tutu Time Travels.
I can't wait to show you my latest vintage finds and share even more breathtaking ballet moments in the next blog post. Until then, keep spreading the magic of dance, and don't forget to embrace your inner ballerina โ especially in a gorgeous, blush-pink tutu!

PS โ Did you know that this was also the year that Catherine the Great commissioned the construction of the Hermitage Theater in Saint Petersburg?! I simply must visit it on my next time travel trip!
Remember, darling readers, don't be afraid to join the #pinktutu revolution and make the world a little bit more pink and delightful one step at a time.
