Pink Tutu Time Travels - Post 1424: August 8th, 1779 - A Parisian Pas de Deux!

Hello, darling tutu-lovers! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where pink reigns supreme and time travel is just another Tuesday. This month, we're waltzing our way back to the vibrant streets of 18th century Paris, all thanks to my trusty steed, Magic Meg, a sparkling pink Shire with golden hooves and a flowing white mane and tail. She practically shimmers with excitement every time we take a trip, which makes the whole experience even more magical!

Now, where were we? Ah yes! It’s the 8th of August, 1779, and I've just popped on my very favourite pink tutu. It's the one with the silk ribbons and little pink satin bows, and oh, it’s positively ravishing! I wouldn't dream of time travelling without my best pink outfit, darling! After all, we're all about promoting pink tutus here at Pink-Tutu.com. I do, of course, wear a few other colours sometimes (just to prove I’m a sophisticated ballet girl), but the colour pink is my all-time favourite. And honestly, what's better than swirling around in a pink tutu, taking in all the sights and sounds of a bygone era?

We've just arrived at the Salle de l'Opéra, the Parisian ballet’s home, which at this time was just beginning its glorious transformation into the Palais Garnier that we know and love today. As we rode up on Meg, she pranced and twirled her way into the courtyard, which is always quite a sight. I did have to tell the people in the courtyard that the horse is not a real one from the time, so not to worry! Imagine being caught up in a conversation with a 1779er who insists you're wrong and that horse can be in that time. No matter what you do to explain the nature of time travel they will never believe you!

Let's hop back in time together, shall we?

Today is a particularly special day because we are treated to the most breathtaking ballet - “Zéphyr et Flore”! This is a magical story, told entirely through dance and featuring gorgeous costumes. Imagine this: gentle nymphs swirling and leaping, and a handsome Zephyrus flitting about like a wind god! The choreography, it is utterly enchanting. This ballet is a true jewel of the ballet world. I would highly recommend a visit if you ever happen to time travel here! I have already jotted it down in my trusty leather rucksack (for those curious, the one I use to collect ballet gems of history). I’ll be using this ballet performance to help fund more of my adventures – it’s the way I help my ballet history research continue!

Did you know that this very era, 1779, was the height of the rococo ballet movement? It's truly all about elegance, delicate movements, and graceful postures, and it truly fits the pink aesthetic beautifully. My pink tutus blend right in!

While we are in Paris, I just HAVE to squeeze in a bit of shopping! Imagine it - the markets, brimming with vibrant silks and laces, with which to create my own gorgeous ballet costume designs, just bursting with imagination and inspiration. The Parisian ballet fashion back then is quite something - you'll never see another age with so much extravagant panniers, powdered wigs and stunning feathers!

And, as I take in the intoxicating air of Paris, with the scent of croissants wafting by and the cobblestone streets humming with lively chatter, I can't help but think about how ballet brings people together. Just like here, it's a language of love, passion, and creativity, and no matter the era, it always feels like home.

My darling tutu-lovers, it's time for me to step out into this glorious time period! I will make sure to update my Pink Tutu Instagram as often as I can, sharing photos of the dancers, the exquisite costumes, the wonderful city - and, of course, a photo of me twirling in my pink tutu amidst the bustling Parisian streets! If you want to see these pictures - remember, www.pink-tutu.com - it's a great way to connect and see where this time traveller goes!

See you all next month when I’ll take you on another extraordinary dance through time!

With love, glitter, and twirls,

Emma xx
