Hello my gorgeous little pink tutu lovers! Welcome back to my blog! It's Emma here, your pink-obsessed ballerina from the heart of Derbyshire. I know, I know, it's been a month, and I feel absolutely awful about keeping you waiting, but time travel, you see, is rather demanding. We all have our passions, don't we? And mine just happens to be whisking myself through the ages in my very own pink tutu, discovering the ballet magic that happened in each era!
This time, however, my oh my, did Magic Meg and I have an absolutely splendid adventure. Let me tell you all about it!
It was a crisp November morning in 1779. Magic Meg, my darling pink shire with golden hooves, pawed impatiently at the edge of my Derbyshire meadow, her white mane and tail fluttering in the breeze. We were off to France this month! Why France? Well, the rumour mill on the Time Travel Ballerina forum was churning with gossip. This November 11th was meant to be a big one, filled with ballet brilliance, or so I heard.
I was itching to know more! Dressed in my favourite pink tutu (it's my lucky one β a light-as-air tulle affair with tiny silver beads stitched around the hem) and a crisp, cream-coloured blouse, I cinched my rucksack β a trusty brown leather contraption overflowing with notebooks and vintage ballet programmes. My heart raced as Magic Meg dipped her head and snorted. This was going to be epic.
We materialized in a bustling French town square. Music poured from a nearby cafΓ©, its scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the aroma of freshly baked bread β heaven for a girl like me! But all my senses were focused on one thing β the Theatre de l'OpΓ©ra-Comique in Paris!
There, a poster announced a performance that would have even the most hardened ballet historian swooning: "La Nouvelle Revue de Paris." Imagine, a Parisian ballet review! Could it be more magical? My heart did a little twirl.
That night, as the Parisian air buzzed with the promise of entertainment, I slipped into the theatre, the soft rustle of my tutu echoing across the ornate lobby. I'd brought along a few of my favourite accessories β a feathered boa and a pair of shimmering pearl earrings. One just has to look the part when exploring the history of dance, darling!
The stage, painted in the pastel tones of a whimsical dream, pulsed with a symphony of colour, grace, and the most extraordinary, expressive ballet. Dancers, clad in lavishly embroidered silks and sparkling fabrics, executed jumps, turns, and balletic arabesques. My eyes feasted on the artistry, a captivating display of talent that brought me to the edge of my velvet-covered seat.
And the audience? Oh, the joy of seeing a true ballet crowd! A sea of glittering jewels and powdered wigs. I could hear the chatter, a cacophony of excited whispers and soft laughter. This was exactly what I dreamed of when I dreamt of being a Time-Traveling Ballerina.
After the performance, I found myself completely enthralled by a petite, fiery ballerina. She was all grace and fierceness on stage, her fiery spirit dancing right off the stage. I learned her name was Mademoiselle Antoinette β a fascinating story about passion and talent in a world that considered women a bit delicate to handle such fierce movements! Her journey truly inspired me.
Back in my own time, a mere moment after Magic Meg whisked me away from that magnificent Paris night, I sat by my laptop, the images of the performance still fresh in my mind, the story of Antoinette brimming in my heart. This was the magic of time travel, of living through ballet history in my very own pink tutu.
And my loves, let me tell you, this is not even the best part. While in the 1700s, I had the joy of meeting the most fantastic seamstress! This is why I can't wait to share all my new, historic pink tutu ideas with you next week! Just you wait... I already have plans to find an extraordinary 1779s Parisian dressmaker to create my next ballet dress! But let's keep this a little secret for now. It'll be my big reveal for next month's post.
Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com and leave your comments below about your favourite historical ballet periods and dance pieces. And who knows, maybe you'll get a chance to appear in my next ballet show! After all, pink tutus and ballet magic are for everyone.
Keep those toes twinkling and those dreams dancing! Lots of pink love,
Emma xx
