Post Number 1633: A Whirl Through 1797! 🩰✨

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad time traveller! 💖 This month, I’m taking us on a trip back to January 1st, 1797 – buckle up, my darlings, because this one’s a real doozy!

Before we go, let’s talk about my absolute favourite part of time travelling: the fashion! Right now, my collection is bursting with treasures from the 1700s. Oh, those powdered wigs, the frilly gowns, the silk stockings… I simply adore it! 😍

Now, onto the real reason you’re here – the ballet! It’s such a thrill to experience this elegant art form in its early days, when it was blossoming across the globe. And just imagine, no Instagram, no Twitter, no internet... Ballet was pure art for art's sake, pure expression, just like it should be!

The Grand Theatre de Lyon

Let me tell you, Meg, my gorgeous pink sparkle-shire, really pulled out the stops today. Imagine, gallivanting across France, my pink tutu swirling in the breeze as we galloped to our destination. We're off to the Grand Theatre de Lyon! It's still an active venue today, which just fills me with awe.

Here's a little secret for you lovelies – I managed to find a handwritten programme from 1797 in an antique shop the other day, hidden amongst some dusty lace collars! It's my precious souvenir from the past and you can see the full photo on the pink-tutu.com blog. They're showcasing "La Petite Forêt" which, translated from the French, means 'The Little Forest'! 🌿 Imagine all those little trees on stage, how adorable! It's really such a sweet name. I bet it would look just stunning in our pink tutu colours! 💕

Opera House of Copenhagen

Hold onto your tutus, darlings, because next we're whisking away to Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen, it was the world premiere of “The Village Barber.” 💈 A real heart-throb of a ballet, just what everyone needed for the New Year! I even found a vintage, hand-stitched program for this premiere. The excitement, the thrill, it was electric. I can still feel the energy. 💖

Time to Catch Up With the Ballet World

Back in good old Derbyshire now, back at the present, catching my breath after a whirlwind of travel and so much fabulous ballet. It seems I can't be without my dance for too long! This month’s "Le Grand Tour," my global ballet adventure has really got me thinking... I'm already dreaming of next month, perhaps Italy or even further afield... the possibilities are endless! 🇮🇹🌎

Much Love,

Emma 💕
