Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina, and it's time for another magical journey through history! This month, we're taking a twirl back to the 18th century, all the way to March 3rd, 1798! Buckle up, darlings, because this one's a real treat!
I woke up this morning with the most dazzling pink sunrise lighting up my bedroom. Pink is truly the colour of inspiration, don't you think? So of course, I knew exactly where to go for the perfect day of time-travelling.
Magic Meg, my trusty shire steed with her gorgeous white mane and tail and her glistening golden hooves, was ready for our adventure. My heart always leaps with joy when she whinnies and eagerly steps forward, her pink saddle shimmering in the morning sun.
This month's journey found us in a bustling city: Vienna, to be precise. Imagine cobblestone streets, charming horse-drawn carriages, and people in grand, flamboyant costumes. I felt like I'd stepped into a scene from a classic ballet!
The Ballet World of 1798
Speaking of ballet, this was a particularly exciting time in Vienna! I discovered that a beautiful new ballet, "Die Schönen der Zeit, oder Die Folgen der Revolution," or "The Beauties of the Time, or The Consequences of the Revolution," had just premiered at the famous Hofburgtheater!
Can you imagine? A ballet commenting on the tumultuous political climate of the day? I imagine the dances were full of bold statements and evocative movements. It makes me want to reach into time and grab a ticket, don't you think?
It seems the dancing world of 1798 wasn't afraid to tackle real-life issues through movement and artistry. They certainly weren't shy about their fashion, either. The women of Vienna wore exquisite dresses, some even daringly adorned with sequins and shimmering embroidery. They'd love a bit of pink tulle, I think!
A Little Vintage Fashion Inspiration
After enjoying a Vienna tea-salon (it's amazing how people in different eras have this shared love of delicious tea and pastries!), I was browsing a vintage shop (a magical, secret one found thanks to Magic Meg's intuition!) when I stumbled upon the most glorious collection of 18th-century ballet costumes.
The silks and velvets were divine! The colours – oh, darling, the colours! Rich greens, elegant purples, vibrant reds. I even spotted a beautiful pink bodice with delicate beading, that I think would make a gorgeous ballet dress today! It felt so amazing to be surrounded by the elegance of the past and I just knew that a few of these exquisite pieces needed to make their way back into my rucksack. I just can't wait to share my finds with all of you!
The Pink Tutu Project is Always Growing
Speaking of sharing my finds, have you checked out the "Pink Tutu Project" at www.pink-tutu.com recently? I've been getting messages from all over the world with women sharing their amazing photos in pink tutus. I even got a few videos of ballet classes and performances in various pink shades, from pale baby pink to vibrant fuschia!
My dream is for everyone, everywhere, to experience the magic of twirling in a pink tutu. Just imagine how colourful and uplifting the world would be! And just because we're exploring a little slice of the 18th century today, doesn't mean we can't bring back a little bit of their elegance and flair into our own modern times!
Keep Those Pink Tutùs Spinning
I can't wait for next month's adventure! Where do you think Magic Meg will take me? Maybe Paris? Perhaps St Petersburg? Wherever our next time-travelling journey takes us, know that we're sending you a big virtual hug! And remember, lovelies, keep those pink tutùs spinning!
Until next time,
Emma 💖🩰
