Pink Tutu Travels: A Date with Destiny, 1801

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, darling! It’s Emma here, and this is my one hundred and sixty-eighth seventh post for www.pink-tutu.com. Oh my, the magic just never seems to stop, and today, well today I'm taking you on a journey to the 7th of July 1801, wouldn't you just love to see what's on at the ballet today? I bet you can guess, yes darling, pink tutus! This month, the glorious, vibrant colour, of course!

The moment Magic Meg, my dazzling pink Shire horse with those oh-so-sparkly golden hooves, and white mane and tail that billows in the wind, deposited us in a fragrant, bustling English village, I felt a tingle of excitement. Magic Meg knows exactly where to put us, we could even be on a stage in the middle of a show, darling. Sometimes the costumes, the hair, the stories, all so charming, make you forget we aren't really at a performance! My favourite rucksack, made of a wonderfully supple leather, and always just the right shade of pink for any occasion, of course, was ready, for I always make sure to bring back bits and pieces from the time I'm in. A vintage dance book, some handmade ballet shoes, even the most beautiful of fabrics to make my own creations at home!

A Century of Wonder: Ballet in the Time of Fashion and Flaunt

1801 - can you even imagine! What a time to be alive, my darlings. Just the idea of travelling in a stagecoach or perhaps even sailing across the channel is so incredibly exciting. Now, I know you're dying to know all about the ballet world back then. While London and Paris were at the forefront of ballet with stunningly beautiful shows, ballet wasn't quite the widespread phenomenon it is now. It was still making its way into hearts and theatre venues, you know, the same way it does today when I go into a brand new country or visit a new village and spread my message of "Pink Tutu!"

There was such an air of romance in the air, especially in London! If you're imagining men with ruffled shirts, you're on the right track! But I won't spoil all the details just yet - I need to share with you how we travelled in time to get to this most exciting date!

A Pink Dream to a Parisian Ballet!

Magic Meg loves being transported by my own performances, and after the incredible reviews of my last piece at the Derby Theatre - Oh darling, I really put everything into it this time, it was "Romeo and Juliet" but with a delightful twist! It was the perfect blend of tragedy, romantic love and the beauty of dance - we gathered the money to hop to Paris. And wouldn't you just know it, the Paris Opera was showcasing "L’Amour et Psyché" by Jean-Georges Noverre. I know, just dreamy, isn't it?

That was back in the day when ballets were like little plays! Imagine having stories with song, dance, costumes, the most magnificent choreography. Oh, darling! What we'd do to be in their world! But even with such glorious creations, something was still missing. You guessed it!

A Vision of Pink: Spreading the Joy of Dance in 1801

Can you believe, it's quite rare to see a ballerina in a pink tutu! It’s simply heartbreaking! Now I know we've been on this mission before, spreading joy through pink tutus. Imagine the magic and joy in these times if we all embraced this magnificent, vibrant shade of pink, it would just radiate pure magic, like a beautiful cherry blossom in full bloom! My passion has led me to dance with some incredibly talented people, both back home in Derbyshire and here in the Parisian theatres, and of course I've tried to share a little bit of that magic of pink by offering to lend them some of my fabulous, fluffy tutus, or you know just a touch of the magical fabric. After all, it doesn’t hurt to start a bit of a fashion revolution, doesn't it?

This wasn't all I did. I decided to create my own performance. Just imagine a young ballerina dressed in the most glorious of pink tutus, gracefully gliding across the Parisian stage, just radiating love and light! Now, what do you think was the audience's reaction, my darling? A roar of applause! It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

A Day Well Spent in the Parisian Ballet World

Oh, the stories that this wonderful journey to Paris has provided me! There’s just so much beauty to soak up, so many tales to unravel, so many performances to behold. While it wasn't quite the world I dream of - one awash in the gorgeousness of pink - there's always time for magic, wouldn't you agree, darling? I know there's an adventure around every corner!

Don't forget to leave your own memories or stories of a pink tutu adventure in the comments! As for me, I'm already looking forward to next month's journey into the past!

See you on www.pink-tutu.com, my lovely friends. Until next time, dance with joy and a sprinkle of pink,

Emma xoxo
