Hello my lovely readers! It's Emma here, back from another enthralling time travel adventure, this time with my trusty steed, Magic Meg. She’s a pink sparkling shire with golden hooves and a mane and tail as white as fresh snow, absolutely perfect for a pink tutu-wearing time traveler!
Today's adventure, you ask? Why, 11th November, 1808! We’ve just travelled back in time from Derbyshire, my little corner of England, to witness a ballet that caused a stir all those years ago. It seems like ballet has always had this way of grabbing the world's attention!
Speaking of ballet, before I get too carried away, you'll need to know the whole fashion situation for today's date. Can you even imagine a pink tutu in 1808? Oh darling, it was more about long, flowing skirts and elaborate hairdos, definitely not the time for pink tutus! I did try to introduce the concept of wearing a pink tutu whilst traveling back in time (it’s in my ballet mission statement after all!), but you'd be surprised how much people frown upon bright colours. However, I can report that the women of this time did take their ballet quite seriously, which gave me all sorts of inspiration. They donned pretty costumes of flowing silk and satins and sported their hair in a grand, dramatic updo - it was simply beautiful.
Now, back to my trip down memory lane... My leather rucksack is stuffed full of stories from this fascinating date, so get ready, darling, because we are about to delve into the world of 1808, specifically what’s going on in the exciting world of ballet.
Imagine this... I'm sitting in a candle-lit theatre, with my bag on my lap (because, a proper lady doesn't throw it on the floor, darling!) as I watch the drama unfold before me. It's the Parisian ballet world, oh darling, a world of swirling petticoats and intricate dances! The play we’re witnessing today is "The Jealous Turk". The Parisian theatre had been bursting with enthusiasm and excitement to see this particular show! Oh, the drama of the jealous Turk! There was a palpable anticipation for a magnificent performance. Can you believe that the original run lasted for an incredible 40 days? It was just a dazzling show of elegance and skill - something we, in the modern world, would appreciate as well! Can you believe that was 215 years ago, and the world of ballet was just as captivated then, as it is today?! It makes you realise how timeless it truly is.
Speaking of the magic of ballet, that's what drives me to collect and tell these stories through my time travels. I have seen how the beauty and artistry of dance transcends generations, how it speaks a universal language that captivates the world! Each of my adventures is a way of paying homage to that incredible journey. Oh, you know, if you haven't done a little ballet shopping for pink tutus this week, I have just the thing to offer - www.pink-tutu.com!
Don’t forget to look out for my next blog! There's so much more to discover, and I am positively brimming with new adventures! Until then, darlings, keep twirling and never stop dreaming!
