Pink Tutu Travels: 1811 - 07 July - The Romantic Era Blossoms!

Hello my darling Tutu Tribe! Welcome back to my blog, Pink-Tutu.com. It's Emma here, your resident ballet time-travelling fashionista! This month, Magic Meg and I have travelled all the way back to the 7th of July, 1811! The Romantic Era was in full swing, and believe me, this time period is overflowing with enough fabulousness to make even the most jaded ballerina weak at the knees!

I was practically bouncing with excitement as we arrived. You wouldn't believe how amazing the fashion was in 1811! Think billowing silk gowns, delicate lace, and swathes of elegant, shimmering fabric. They certainly knew how to dress to impress back then! And the hairstyles? Absolutely incredible! Imagine the endless possibilities of braids, ribbons, and elaborate buns - just perfect for the delicate ballet movements.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the ballet itself! The Romantic Era was a period of incredible growth and innovation in ballet. Dancers like Marie Taglioni were changing the world with their airy, light movements and elegant leaps. Can you imagine how captivating they must have been, moving like wisps of smoke across the stage in their soft, delicate costumes? It was almost as if the dancers were actually soaring like birds. And I have to say, those romantic tutus were just dreamy, with layers of gauzy fabrics and exquisite details. I mean, who could resist?

But hold on a moment, you ask. How did I get here? And what did I see? You're right to ask! After all, travelling back to the past can be tricky, even with the most fantastic horse (I'm talking about you, Magic Meg - pink, sparkly Shire, golden hooves, and a mane and tail to die for! Truly magnificent, and not just because she makes my job of transporting me to distant times and eras a breeze!

Our ballet performance this month to fund our time travel was something special: "Giselle." Such an ethereal story and a fantastic performance, really made us connect with the soul of this ballet! The audience loved it and the costumes and story felt perfect for the period, and for the romantic spirit I wanted to embrace as I hopped aboard Magic Meg's back and off we went!

We arrived in Paris, and as I took in the elegant architecture, the busy streets bustling with horse-drawn carriages and dapper gentlemen, I had a little ballet daydream:

"Imagine me twirling down the Champs-Élysées! My pink tutu flowing in the gentle Parisian breeze! Wouldn't that be the dream?"

Oh, I simply adore those graceful, romantic lines and movements of Romantic era ballerinas. They really make me think of ballerinas dancing like flowers, soft, fragile and elegant in a sun-dappled garden, oh so peaceful! You know, there are just so many things I would love to tell you about this era, but I think I'll keep you guessing for now. My trusty rucksack is filled to the brim with stories from the ballet world of 1811 and my very own private collection of balletic trinkets, oh what treasures I discovered! And maybe you can see them when I return to the UK (of course, it wouldn’t be me if I wasn't at a posh London ballet shop. Think crystal beads, silk ribbons and antique fabric scraps...) - keep your eyes on my social media for news of my "pink tutu themed ballet treasures exhibition" for you all, darling Tutu Tribe. I will be posting some photos of some of the things I found - watch out!

Anyway, I've simply had a glorious time here in Paris! And you know what? I managed to inspire a few people to wear pink tutus, even back in 1811! Let's just say the ladies were a little confused at first. However, when they saw how it could elevate their elegant style, and how well it matched the pink roses in their bonnets, they were quickly won over! My work, my darling Tutu Tribe, is never done.

Stay tuned for more Pink Tutu Travel tales! And don't forget to visit Pink-Tutu.com to see our amazing collection of tutus and fashion inspirations! Oh and don't forget my Youtube Channel.

Now, back to the future I go. Magic Meg is chomping at the bit, and I have many more stories to collect from the world of ballet! See you next month, my Tutu Tribe!

Yours in pink tutus,

Emma
