Post 1926: A Pink Tutu in Paris!

Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! June has arrived, and I'm bursting with excitement to tell you about my latest escapade with Magic Meg.

This month, we're travelling back to June 1821, landing right in the heart of Paris, that glorious city of fashion and frivolity! I must say, the Parisian fashion of the early 19th century is something else, and I can already feel my creative juices flowing as I scribble away in my travel journal!

We left my humble Derbyshire cottage just after dawn, Magic Meg pulling my little cart with her usual effortless grace. The scent of fresh-cut hay from our farm filled the air as we embarked on our magical journey. Soon, we were hurtling through time, the wind whipping through my hair as the countryside whizzed by.

It always feels like a secret just between us - me and Magic Meg. Like we're part of a grand adventure, a secret society of time travellers. Speaking of which, it's a good thing she is a horse, and not a donkey or a cow. It would have been quite the spectacle, imagine turning up in 1821 with a pink tutu on and a mooing or braying companion!

Now, Paris! I do love a city trip! Our arrival was quite a sight! I don't think they were prepared for a girl in a pink tutu and a magical shire horse, even with my sparkly gold-hooved, white mane and tail beauty. The locals stared and gasped, but all in all, they were very welcoming! (Well, they hadn't quite gotten used to pink tutus yet. Though I can already see how this colour is set to take the world by storm. Just watch my blog, darlings. Pink is the colour of the future! )

Let me tell you about what’s happening in the world of ballet this month in 1821. It is all a bit dramatic really! Paris, as you all know, was a world-leading centre of ballet, so we couldn’t leave without seeing what was happening there. There were some huge stars in their heyday - Marie Taglioni and the beautiful and famous Carlotta Grisi! I think both were considered ‘ballerina prima’ at this point – what amazing times they must have had, the first female celebrities. And Carlotta even went on to marry in 1836 – very glamorous.

My dear friend, Magic Meg and I enjoyed a divine time, wandering through the cobbled streets and enjoying all the delights of Parisian life. We spent an afternoon at the famous Opéra Garnier - the pinnacle of opulence! The interior, designed by Charles Garnier, was a whirlwind of gold, velvet, and marble - an absolute masterpiece. The show was fantastic! Even though there are few records, the style of the ballet was romantic and lyrical, with lots of grace and elegant poses. It is this very time period that ballet as we know it really began to develop, especially with the emphasis on lighter movements that I am working to introduce to all my Derbyshire friends in the modern day!

Of course, I made sure to explore the city's bustling markets, taking in all the unique scents, textures, and colours. A few new silk ribbons and a beautifully crafted hairpiece have joined my collection - they'll look sensational on my back, sparkling and glamorous on a pink tutu backdrop! I will even see if I can get some of that new pink silk gauze fabric to incorporate into some designs.

And finally, no Parisian adventure is complete without a stop at the renowned Patisserie de l'Opéra. I was utterly captivated by the artistry on display. Macaroons with vibrant colours and swirling patterns? Why not add pink ones to my collection for our pink tutu event back home? And even more importantly, they were the first ever patisserie in Paris! That's how influential the Parisian arts and theatre are to the whole world!

From my travels through time, it's clear to me that there’s an undeniable energy in this city, a sense of creativity and glamour that captivates the soul. That, my dear readers, is what makes a true Parisian experience unforgettable! And my trip, as usual, wasn’t just a holiday, as always, my ballet back-pack is getting very heavy as I collect all this knowledge for the upcoming pink-tutu world takeover!

I can’t wait to return to my Derbyshire home, I am looking forward to sharing my stories and, most importantly, to share all the pink tutus I am planning! Until then, keep dancing, keep smiling, and remember, everyone looks beautiful in pink! And stay tuned for the next chapter of Pink-Tutu’s time travel journey – next month, who knows where our adventures will take us!
