Pink Tutu Travels: Ballet's Journey Through Time, #1990: 10th October, 1826!

Hello darling! It's Emma, your trusty time-travelling ballerina here! Grab a glass of something bubbly, get comfy in your most fabulous pink outfit (I'm currently rocking a shimmering, coral-hued tutu with matching gloves!) and let's hop onto the magnificent Magic Meg. It's time for another pink-tastic adventure through time, this month landing on the 10th October, 1826!

Magic Meg whinnies, her golden hooves pawing the air impatiently, eager to whisk us through the annals of history. This time, she’s adorned with a garland of blushing pink roses, just the colour of the tutu I picked up in a quaint French boutique in 1756. Speaking of fashion! Can you imagine the 1820s? Those impossibly high waistlines! I may be a huge fan of fashion-forward pink, but that would have to be a ā€œhard passā€ even from me! I much prefer a little fluidity in my attire, thank you very much!

My trusty leather rucksack is packed with notepads, sparkly pens, and even a tiny ballet shoe to keep a note of any exciting performances. The 1820s are said to be the era where ballet REALLY started to pick up its skirt (figuratively speaking, darling!), so we’re going to find some pretty fantastic shows, I just know it!

Now, what was going on in the world of ballet on 10th October 1826? Hold on to your pom poms, it's a real whirl! In Russia, ballet classes are already going into overdrive with their world-renowned ballet education taking shape! We can picture it now, little darling dancers pirouette-ing with youthful abandon, eager to embody those graceful poses, just like their idols! In London, Covent Garden is bustling with anticipation! The Royal Ballet was already making waves across the world, so there’s no doubt that even in this time, London would have been a haven for ballet lovers.

Speaking of Paris! Did you know this is where ballet started becoming much more dramatic, darling? It wasn't all fluttering hands and coy gazes any more. Think powerful storytelling, intense emotions - just imagine the potential! Now that’s my kind of show. Let's not forget Italy! The heart of all things grand! Those operatic ballerinas with their beautiful voices and intricate steps – it would be simply dazzling! My leather notebook is ready to record every detail! I do believe there will be an incredible amount to discover and to capture!

We might even encounter a renowned ballerina, Marie Taglioni, the ultimate romantic, dancing in the French romantic ballet style, just think how sensational! That flowing silk, the dramatic music, and the graceful beauty - oh darling! If she's as beautiful in person as she is in history books, it's going to be an unforgettable encounter!

While on our travels, let's remember, ballet wasn’t just about dazzling performance! It was a form of communication and storytelling. Ballet is art, darling, and art speaks volumes, regardless of time period. You might not understand all the nuances of a ballet performance from 1826, but just looking at the graceful movement, the strength and the artistry will fill your heart with emotion, like it always does for me!

And remember, this month’s #pinktututravels is just a snippet of the vast history of ballet! I have a whole rucksack full of incredible stories and amazing discoveries waiting to be shared. You see darling, I believe that everyone deserves a chance to feel the magic of ballet! And what better way to share this passion than through my Pink Tutu Travels? So, grab a glass of sparkling wine (maybe add a splash of pink food colouring to keep it theme!) and join me every month!

Until next time, darlings! And don’t forget to wear pink! Love, Emma.
