Pink Tutu Time Travels: June 1829 - A Royal Debut and The Magic of Pink! 🩰✨

Hello, my lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu time traveller, ready to whisk you off to a beautiful ballet-filled past!

This month, for blog post number 2022 on www.pink-tutu.com, we're venturing back to June 1829 – a month overflowing with elegant choreography, enchanting music and of course, a whole lot of pink!

Let me just grab my sparkly pink tulle, perch myself atop Magic Meg – my stunning, pink-speckled Shire horse with golden hooves, a mane and tail as white as a swan’s down – and off we go!

A Royal Ballet Premiere in St. Petersburg:

This particular June, the eyes of the world were fixed on St. Petersburg. The Imperial Theatres were abuzz, prepping for a grand premiere - the first performance of "The Pharaoh's Daughter," by the French choreographer Jean-Pierre Aumer! The ballet tells a vibrant tale of love, magic and, as always, dancing. Can you imagine a glittering stage, vibrant costumes, and the audience dressed to the nines? I can just hear the gasp of excitement as the curtain rose on this epic ballet!

It's always a delight to discover the influence of older styles of dance – I often incorporate moves from these early ballets into my own performances, it adds such a richness to my movements.

Ballet in Bloom: A Time of Transition

Now, let’s dive a little deeper into the ballet world of 1829. This period marked a crucial time of change, transitioning away from the dramatic, heavily adorned "ballet d'action" – which relied on complex stories – and moving towards the elegant "ballet blanc" (meaning "white ballet"). Think billowing tutus, light movements and a focus on graceful steps and refined artistry! I just adore the elegance and fluidity of this style, and, dare I say it, pink was an incredibly popular color choice during this transition. It added such a dreamy, romantic touch to the ballets.

Bringing Home a Treasure

Before we go on, my lovelies, I must tell you about my incredible find on this journey! Hidden away in an old theatre archive, I unearthed a delightful sketch of a ballerina from the time period – her tutu? You guessed it – the most gorgeous shade of pink!

It was instantly added to my leather rucksack (you know, the one with all my ballet-related finds) – I'll share it on www.pink-tutu.com for you all to see very soon!

A Romantic Evening in Derbyshire

We all need a little balance – and a change of scene – so I galloped Magic Meg to my home in Derbyshire. I just love coming home after a trip – there’s something incredibly special about putting on a pair of comfy shoes (I always carry a pair of comfy flats, even on my most elegant outings, just for a change of pace).

But my main goal, my lovelies, is to bring the beauty of ballet and the magic of pink to every corner of the world. And who knows, perhaps one day my travels will even inspire you to wear a pink tutu too – a little sparkle goes a long way, don't you think?

Remember, a love for ballet, a heart full of sparkle, and a pink tutu are all you need for an absolutely magical day.

See you on our next pink tutu journey!

Much Love,

Emma πŸ©°πŸ’•
