Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to my Pink Tutu Time Travels! Today we're taking a whirl through the mists of time, landing on 11th November, 1829. I'm so excited, darling! 1829 was a pivotal year for ballet, so much happened! You know I can't wait to tell you all about it. But first, as always, letâs get our pink fix:
My Outfit: Now, for this trip I've chosen a glorious shade of bubblegum pink, my Tutu Du Jour! Itâs a floaty tulle number, and, to add that extra oomph, I've paired it with a shimmering diamante belt. Can't forget a sprinkle of fairy dust on my pointe shoes. Who said time travelling was all about comfort? đ
Magic Meg: Of course, my faithful steed Magic Meg, with her pink, sparkling mane and tail, is all gussied up in a beautiful pink, feather-trimmed bridle. She's eager for adventure, just like me!
On The Road to the Past:
My time machine isnât a DeLorean, you see. Itâs my trusty leather rucksack and my fabulous pink ballet shoes. Itâs a wonderful combination to zip me through the past. You know, just in time for my trip!
Destination: 11th November, 1829
A New Era in Paris:
Right then, ladies! Paris, the city of lights, is our destination! Oh darling, I was so giddy with anticipation when we arrived, because it was the opening of the Théùtre de l'OpĂ©ra. Now this wasnât just any theatre â this was the beginning of a golden age of ballet! And it was packed, darling! From aristocracy to the local dancers â everybody was there. I was so excited â can you imagine all those talented dancers sharing their artistry with the world?!
My Favourite Bits:
The thing that struck me most about 1829 was the grandeur of the theatre and its design â pure opulence! And the outfits! I had to fight the urge to squeal with delight â those billowing, fluffy tutusâŠso elegant! It was all a sight to behold â like a vision of a thousand sparkling stars! And the music! Oh, it was magical â the swirling melodies, so enchanting⊠a ballet fan's paradise, indeed.
The Ballet Programme:
It was the best of the best in ballet - "La Sylphide" featuring Marie Taglioni - a must-see, my darlings! She is a legend in the ballet world! And then, there was "La Fille Mal GardĂ©e" â just utterly delightful! I especially adored the character dances and all those intricate steps.
Fashion Trends:
In Paris, I noticed that skirts were still long and full, much like the flowing, graceful movements of the ballerinas in the Théùtre de l'Opéra. So chic! Of course, there was lots of lace, bows and feathers, making everything truly captivating.
Dance Talk:
In Paris, ballet was the most sought-after form of entertainment. It wasn't just an art; it was a way of life! Everyone talked about the latest performances and admired the skill and talent of the dancers, particularly of Madame Taglioni! Such passion! It made me feel right at home!
And So Much More!
But the adventures weren't over, my dears! While in Paris, I found the loveliest boutique. You should see the exquisite dancewear, the vibrant silk and satin fabrics - simply enchanting! It had me all flustered, my lovely. I had to pick up a new pair of pink shoes - such delicate detail - and a beautiful pink ribbon. It was like stepping back into a world of vintage dreams! I can't wait to wear it to my next performance back home!
