Pink Tutu Travels: 12th December, 1832 - Post #2064

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time-travelling ballerina! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com - the place where the magic of dance meets the wonder of time travel. It's that time again - time for another fabulous journey through history! This month, we're stepping back to the 12th of December 1832. Buckle up, darlings, we're in for a treat!

Oh, and I absolutely must show you what I picked up on my last adventure! This glorious velvet jacket in the most divine shade of plum arrived on my doorstep this morning, a real little gem! You see, dear readers, a small French theatre troupe was travelling through Derbyshire and, being a bit of a shopaholic, I simply had to find out more about their costumes! Now, my collection is absolutely brimming with treasures – think silken gloves, elaborate feathered fans, and shimmering brocades. I am in absolute heaven!

I'll share more about my acquisitions later but, for now, let’s hop on Magic Meg’s back and embark on our grand journey! Remember, Meg’s a stunning pink-sparkling Shire with golden hooves and a mane and tail that flows like a river of ivory - a truly majestic companion for a ballerina of my stature! She’s always eager to whisk me through time, her hooves drumming a rhythmic beat against the cobblestones as we take off.

And today, we're heading to Milan! It's a big one, darlings! Now, I’ve always adored the Italian school of ballet – the focus on exquisite grace and delicate technique makes it a perfect match for my own style.

So, what's the world of ballet like on 12th December, 1832, you ask? It's buzzing! There's a distinct shift in the ballet world, a move away from the strict rules of the French court and a fresh, blossoming interest in showcasing virtuosity and theatrical drama. Imagine a blending of ballet, storytelling, and dazzling stagecraft - a whirlwind of vibrant expression and emotional storytelling!

At Teatro alla Scala - the glorious Milanese opera house, an incredible production of “Il Prometeo,” is running. It's an opera by Antonio Sacchini, who was known for blending beautiful, romantic melodies with powerful dramatic impact. Now, can you imagine! I am desperate to see this, a theatrical explosion with graceful ballet sequences - pure magic, my dears! Just picturing those grand ballroom sets and the glittering costumes makes me swoon. I bet it's an absolute spectacle.

Speaking of costumes, can we take a moment to admire the amazing ballet fashions of the era? Romantic styles, billowing tutus - oh, it's like a dream! It's such an exciting time, this era. It’s a wonderful blend of the grandeur of court ballet and the newly emerged freedom and emotional power. A truly glamorous time to be a dancer, wouldn’t you agree?

Of course, on our visit to Milan, a stop at a fine atelier for new ribbons, gloves, and – well – a brand-new, divinely-pink tutu is essential, isn't it? You can never have too many tutus! This era’s passion for rich, feminine colour, is right up my alley, a complete joy to experience.

And while we’re exploring, wouldn't it be glorious to stumble upon a private ballet lesson – a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of what it takes to create such exquisite performances? Learning about the secrets of the art, from the heart of its origins. Oh, just thinking about it fills my heart with such joy. Just imagine sharing secrets, stories and tips with these ballet greats! You can be sure I’ll be collecting some fantastic insights for a future post.

I have so many other amazing adventures planned! Remember, my ballet blog will be updated on the first of every month so, come back next time to join me in my time travels – a journey filled with passion, elegance, and a sprinkle of magic!

Oh! And don’t forget to visit my shop, www.pink-tutu.com. It’s the place for a lovely tutu of your own and you'll find more incredible inspirations and treasures! And tell all your friends - we all want the world to be filled with the twirling joy of pink tutus!

Until next time, my dearest ballet-loving friends! Remember – always dance with your heart. It’s the most magical journey you’ll ever take!

Much love and many twirls,

Emma, The Pink Tutu Traveller
