Pink-Tutu.com Post #2148: A Twirling Time-Trip to December 12th, 1839!

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast and, of course, time-travelling ballerina. I'm so excited to whisk you all off on another whirlwind adventure, and this time, we're travelling back to December 12th, 1839!

As always, Magic Meg, my trusty pink-sparkling Shire with the golden hooves and flowing white mane and tail, is champing at the bit, ready to take us on another enchanting journey. I've packed my trusty leather rucksack, ready to fill it with more fabulous ballet finds and stories from this era.

This month, I'm wearing a fluffy pink tulle tutu that wouldn't look out of place on the grandest of stages! Its pale shade almost shimmers like pearl, reflecting the sunlight bouncing off Magic Meg's gleaming pink coat. I've even managed to get my hands on some vintage pink silk ribbons to adorn my bun, which I just know are going to add a touch of whimsy to our adventure!

Now, for the grand reveal of our December 12th, 1839 adventure…

Back to the Ballet Era of 1839!

The year is 1839, and the world of ballet is alive with innovation and talent! There's a real sense of excitement about this particular era in ballet history. It was the era when the Romantic ballet was in full bloom, exploring themes of love, fantasy, and emotion.

Imagine, lovelies, the grandeur! Think cascading white tutus, sweeping leaps, and ethereal music - the very essence of feminine grace and artistry! This was an era of legendary dancers, choreographers, and even new technical advancements.

But what is happening in the world of ballet on this particular December 12th? Let's see!

As it turns out, December 12th, 1839, wasn't particularly chock-a-block with ballet premieres. That doesn't mean there wasn't ballet going on! Imagine this: it’s likely that many dance schools would have been humming with the soft sounds of ballet class in full swing, while the stages of grand opera houses across Europe would be graced by ballet performances, each filled with beautiful costumes and dramatic storytelling.

However, on this very day, the iconic dancer Marie Taglioni was likely captivating audiences in London with her dazzling performance of La Sylphide. Oh, imagine her performance of this quintessential Romantic ballet, with her breathtaking light and airy style! A real spectacle of skill, grace and emotion, no doubt!

Where Else Might Our Tutu Be Taking Us?

But my lovely pink tutu wants more! She's itching to dance across Europe! And, just like me, she loves a good adventure. Just think of all the fascinating ballet events that could be taking place across the world on this day.

Perhaps a premiere is unfolding in Russia, featuring the captivating technique of the Russian ballet style, or maybe, we'd find ourselves in the heart of Italy, where we'd see the influence of Italian opera influencing the story telling in ballet, resulting in passionate drama! And, I bet you'd find plenty of dancers across France rehearsing new pieces by famous choreographers. There is so much to explore!

Now, I must away! It's time to travel through time. I’ve got an exciting list of events to see, all thanks to a little bit of historical research, a sprinkle of intuition, and, of course, the guidance of my beloved Magic Meg. And of course, the wonders of my pink tutu, which helps me to connect with the beauty and emotion of the time period, whatever it may be. Don't worry lovelies! I'll be back next month to share my time travelling exploits and bring you all the very latest in vintage ballet trends, inspiration, and just general twirling fun! Keep your eyes peeled for that pink tulle in the time stream!

And remember, my dears, embrace your inner ballerina and don that pink tutu with pride! After all, the world is our stage, and life is best danced to the tune of joy and laughter!

Love and twirls,

Emma x
