Post 2172: Twirling through the 1841 December 12th Ballet Scene!

Hey loves,

It's me, Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed time traveller! This month, Magic Meg and I are galloping back in time to 12th December 1841. The air is crisp, the festive season is well and truly underway, and even the cobblestones seem to twinkle with a festive magic!

As we approach the year 1841, I can almost feel the energy of this exciting era pulsating around me! Ballet was taking the world by storm, with new schools and companies popping up all over the place. We're heading straight for London, my dear darlings, to dive headfirst into the wonderful world of Victorian ballet.

This month's haul in my trusty leather rucksack is already bursting with stories! I snagged the most charming pamphlet featuring illustrations of ballet costumes, some absolutely stunning historical tutus with gorgeous swirling patterns, not to mention a programme for a ballet featuring a most captivating plot (my lips are sealed!).

What’s on the Ballet Calendar for December 12th 1841?

I was absolutely chuffed to discover that the London Opera House had a stunning production of "The Fairy of the Flowers," on this very date! I'm imagining the beautiful costumes and the enchanting stagecraft, truly a sight for sore eyes, I'd imagine.

Did you know? This date, 12th December, in 1841 also happened to be the premiere of "Giselle" at the Vienna Court Opera! My, oh my, it just goes to show that this was a time brimming with incredible talent and innovation.

What's in My Tutu?

You wouldn’t believe the shopping I managed to sneak into my time travel trip! Think sumptuous velvets, shimmering satins, and oh, so many beautiful trims, not to mention vintage ballet shoes. These gems are perfect for replicating the exquisite beauty of the time period in my ballet shows at the Derbyshire Village Hall. Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Ballet Inspiration Through the Ages

This trip has left me bursting with inspiration. I think I just have to add a new vintage ballet fashion item to my collection for next year. How fabulous are those swirling tulle skirts in “The Fairy of the Flowers!” and those beautifully elaborate ballet costumes featured in my pamphlets – they are pure magic! I have even managed to secure a pair of authentic ballet slippers – talk about a dream come true!

Let’s take this a little further; I believe I need to add some Victorian embellishments to my pink tutus. Imagine the drama! Imagine the magic! It’s going to be absolutely sensational. Oh, and I've found an old sewing manual with ballet costume patterns – time for a spot of ballet crafting, don't you think?

Spreading the Pink Tutu Love

My darlings, my mission to spread pink tutu love is just beginning! It's my hope to show everyone, no matter where they are in the world, how joyous and magical ballet can be, no matter your age, background or style! Just remember, there's a pink tutu out there for everyone, and that's my motto!

Have you ever considered visiting a ballet performance? Tell me all about it! And what colour do you think looks best in a tutu? Let's talk tutus!

Love and pirouettes,

Emma
