Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post 2282: February 2nd, 1851

Hello darlings, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet! This month's journey has taken me to a time of unbridled passion for ballet and oh-my-tutus-the fashion! Buckle up, lovelies, because today we are going to February 2nd, 1851. Now, you'll understand that the fashion sense back then wasn't exactly the vibrant, tulle-filled dream it is today. But darling, there's still some beauty to be found - a whiff of romance and elegant formality! And where there's elegance, there's a ballerina.

As usual, my darling Meg (oh, you know the one, that fabulous pink-sparkling Shires with golden hooves! She's just everything!) and I have arrived just in time to catch some exciting happenings in the world of ballet! The biggest event today is the premiere of the *‘Giselle’ **at the Théâtre de l’Opéra, in Paris. Can you believe it? This is considered to be the first time this magnificent ballet was shown on a public stage.

Now, you may already know about Giselle but this ballet was so extraordinary for the time. The first, true romantic ballerina. **It revolutionised dance. Now, you see the stories of passionate women, supernatural creatures and a tragic heroine. And this? This was a game changer!

Speaking of change, and keeping with the fashion of 1851, ballet costumes in that era had a pretty strong sense of history! Imagine a bit of Greek inspiration (those flowing tunics!), added a hint of medieval with short, billowing tunics, and we're starting to get the look. The tutus (yes, they were still around!) had multiple tiers, and you see the dancers wearing lots of frills.

*Imagine, darlings! It's all about a dance of layers, flowing silks and the sheer grace of those twirls! Oh, the drama and passion in the movements, *it's a pure, classic dance that captivates us till today. Oh, and *there’s this sense of elegance, of *absolute femininity and refined movement - everything my dear ballerina heart yearns for.

But enough about Giselle! We also need to talk fashion! Now, the whole world is taking notes from the grand fashion trends that originated in Paris. And when we're talking Paris in 1851, it's all about those cascading skirts! Big, luxurious skirts in the newest fabrics that they’d just started creating! Talk about making a statement.

Oh, I couldn't resist taking a trip to one of the local boutiques and buying a beautifully embellished crinoline - it's fabulous! Now, imagine these skirts swaying gracefully along with our *ballrooms, theatre seating, and the streets lit by flickering lamplight... pure romance, dearie. *I've gotta tell you, I am in love.

And now let's talk street-ballet. That’s right darlings! You already know how much I love my street performances. Let’s make our dreams known. And today, in 1851, the most fantastic street show in the world has just premiered.
It’s called ‘La Fille mal Gardée, and we are about to see an utterly incredible spectacle, and even though I've time traveled so many times, I can see the ballet magic happening! The dancing has moved into the countryside and is based on rural life. It’s pure bliss! **So charming - they dance and twirl and tell their charming stories! It’s the magic that makes you want to leap into the ballet itself.

It’s pure bliss darling. It's the perfect moment for the Pink Tutu Time Traveler.

Speaking of the Pink Tutu darling, don't forget to check out my site www.pink-tutu.com - my blog’s all about inspiring the love for ballet in everyone! It's packed with articles about the world of ballet history, fun facts, tips about our favourite tutus and those dance classes, plus our most swoony ballet fashion stories.

Don't forget darlings! My love for tutus is the ultimate fashion choice, and you’ll always see a hint of pink here in the Pink Tutu Time Traveler blog. What will you wear in your everyday life that will capture a ballerina moment for you? I've started carrying this new gorgeous pink satin drawstring bag from that little Parisian shop – oh it's absolutely divine! I’ve got this little feeling the fashion world's gonna be in for a whirlwind of colour! Just you wait... it’s coming, lovelies!

Don’t forget, everything is a reason to twirl and embrace our own love for all things pink. It’s time to jump, skip, and maybe even throw a pink sparkly shimmy into the mix. The Pink Tutu time traveler awaits.

Now, remember, you don’t have to be a dancer to love ballet. Ballet has so much to offer in all walks of life, even if you're just sitting down for tea and cake – think elegant floral print! And maybe a tiny, very elegant sparkle.. This time traveler is always dancing, darling, in my pink tutu, *just like a ballerina should. Until next time – *ta-ta, darling! *Let the pink ballet fun commence!
