Hello my lovely ballet bunnies! π©°
Welcome to another thrilling journey through the magical world of ballet history, straight from my pink tutu and into your hearts! As always, Magic Meg and I have been galloping through time, and this month, we've landed right smack-dab in the heart of 1851 - and oh my goodness, you won't believe what a splendid year it was for ballet!
It was a real royal delight, as this is the year Queen Victoria, a total ballet fanatic herself, was throwing a huge shindig called the Great Exhibition in London. It was like the Olympics, but for showcasing amazing inventions and art from all over the globe! Imagine all the excitement! Can you just picture all those dazzling costumes and stunning theatrical displays? I can! π€©
Speaking of dazzling displays, the world of ballet was bursting with brilliance in 1851. Imagine dancing on the stage with such a grand and appreciative audience. And with everyone wearing such beautiful dresses. It makes my ballerina heart flutter!
Our pink tutu landed smack bang in London and we strolled along the beautiful and buzzing streets of this vibrant metropolis. It is so fascinating, watching history come alive all around me. Just imagine, the shops were overflowing with delicate lace, elegant silk gowns, and all sorts of fascinating fashions. Now, this is my kind of place! And speaking of fashion, just you wait, my darlings, till I show you what fabulous things we've collected from the shops on this fabulous 1851 trip! π
Now, my dear ballet bunnies, we have to talk about what a big deal ballerinas were in this time. Imagine a ballerina who could do an unbelievable arabesque, just a breathtaking move, and all dressed in a fluttery, frilly, magnificent pink tutu. Oh, it would just have made you cry tears of joy. You'd hear whispers of amazing, captivating, exquisite, mesmerising. Yes, those are all words you'd use to describe a top ballerina in 1851! π€©
Back in our lovely Derbyshire, the dance studios are still in full swing. This was the time when the classic ballerina moves were being invented! And my, they looked oh so lovely. Oh my dear girls, don't think the dance moves were as sophisticated then, oh no! But the stories of what they could do just give me shivers down my spine! The sheer talent of dancers like Carlotta Grisi. I had to pop over and see her in action. It truly was a wonderful, inspiring day. π
In the world of dance in 1851, there was an incredible story brewing. There were two ballet companies that were really going head-to-head, making people sit on the edge of their seats and go wild with anticipation. These were the "French Ballet" and the "Italian Ballet". Can you imagine, being right there, witnessing this rivalry? Well, let's just say there was no lack of talent or passion! π
Well, my dear ballet bunnies, this exciting trip has to come to an end, and, as always, my pink tutu has a whole treasure trove of tales to tell from my rucksack and a little something special from my latest time-travelling adventures for my ballet-loving darlings! π€©
And to you all - go on, let loose your inner ballerina. Dance like youβve never danced before, and be sure to follow us for next monthβs incredible journey. π©°
See you soon,
Emma
