Post #2331: A Parisian Adventure with the Ballet's Most Beloved - 3rd March 1855 🩰💖

Hello darling tutu lovers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu, your one-stop shop for all things ballet, time travel, and fabulous pink frocks. This month, we're stepping back in time to 3rd March 1855 - the year when my pink tutu made quite the splash in the Parisian ballet scene. Buckle your ballet slippers and grab a cuppa, because this journey is a right old charmer!

It all began as usual - a chilly Derbyshire morning, the frost still clinging to Meg's shimmering white mane and tail. I can never quite believe it, how Meg manages to transport me through time, a real life "Black Beauty" with golden hooves, sparkling like tiny sunbeams, and oh, so graceful. She munches on sugar cubes as we disappear, the swirling time-space vortex familiar now, even after all these trips!

As I landed in Paris, I could instantly feel the vibrant energy of the city - it was like stepping into a Parisian painting, full of life and colour! The air buzzed with music, theatre posters flaunting the most divine ballerinas, and the scent of freshly baked bread wafting from quaint little cafes. Everything felt so romantic, and the most exciting part, a grand ballet performance at the Palais Garnier was only a short stroll away!

This trip, my rucksack was filled with lace, satin and tulle, enough to satisfy even the most discerning ballerina. After all, what’s a time-travelling ballerina without her essential supplies? I slipped on my go-to pink tutu, its shimmer reflecting the warm sunlight filtering through the café windows, and oh, the admiration I received from passersby. It seemed my love for pink tutus had not lost its magic, even back in 1855!

I settled into my front-row seat at the Palais Garnier. I'm not exaggerating, the atmosphere was electric, filled with anticipation for the star of the evening, Marie Taglioni. This legendary dancer had, for years, graced stages with her ethereal movements and graceful leaps. The performance began with a gasp from the audience, and for a brief moment, I felt I was caught in a beautiful, fleeting dream. It was as if Taglioni danced on air, her movements so light and fluid they felt impossible, even to this time-travelling ballerina.

During the intermission, I mingled with Parisian ballet aficionados, a real mix of the elite, fashionistas, and even a few of the Parisian dance world's leading figures! It was fascinating to see their passion for dance, especially the excitement surrounding the new trend of "Romantic Ballet", a new style that truly highlighted the ballerinas' femininity and grace.

One of the most interesting moments came when a young dancer approached me with an intriguing question. She asked, "Is your tutu pink? I've never seen a pink one before! It's quite… daring." I had to giggle! This was truly an unforgettable exchange. Imagine, a whole world out there unaware of the glorious wonder that is a pink tutu. This young lady's surprise cemented my commitment to my mission: spread the joy of pink tutus across time!

By the end of the evening, I'd gathered some wonderful stories about the ballet, a beautifully embellished dance book from a leading Parisian publisher, and of course, some stunning snippets of ballet fashion to add to my collection.

So darling readers, if you find yourselves captivated by the ballet, consider adding a touch of pink. It's time to challenge the status quo and celebrate your own unique style with a fabulous pink tutu. Who knows, perhaps you'll even inspire someone else to embrace a little bit of pink in their life!

Until next month, dance on and stay fabulous,

Emma xxx
