Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where we journey through time, one pink tutu at a time. This month, dear readers, we're waltzing back to August 8th, 1863. Imagine it, the world is a flurry of excitement as the hot summer sun throws its rays onto the cobbled streets, a world brimming with stories to be discovered. It's the kind of day where even the birds are chirping a cheerful "ballet!" - and I, of course, am eager to join in on the fun.

My darling Meg, my trusty pink-sparkling Shire horse, is all ready to carry us back through the time tunnel. She's a magnificent creature, you know. With those gleaming gold hooves and a mane and tail like spun sugar, Meg makes a spectacular entrance wherever we go, especially against the backdrop of the historical cobbled streets.
Today, I'm dressed for the occasion, a breathtaking ballet-pink tutu in layers of delicate tulle, and of course, a matching bow adorned with shimmering rhinestones. And my trusty leather rucksack is primed for the adventures to come - ready to be filled with more historical gems from the world of ballet.
Where are we off to, you ask? Why, Vienna, of course! It's a hub of artistry, brimming with the best in ballet, music, and performance. They say that 19th-century Vienna is an explosion of elegance and beauty, a dazzling haven for dance, and it wouldn't be the "pink-tutu-clad" adventure it is without seeing it for ourselves.
I can feel it, darlings, there's magic in the air - like the slight shiver of anticipation you feel just before the curtains rise at a grand ballet performance. The excitement has already started to fizz! I can hardly wait to tell you all about the wonders we discover.
Back to Ballet - What's going on in 1863?
I must say, 1863 is proving to be quite a year for ballet. Everywhere we travel, it's all anyone's talking about - from grand imperial theaters to the cafes that fill the bustling squares.
And it's no wonder. The world of ballet is teeming with creative fire. From the brilliance of Marius Petipa's "The Pharaoh's Daughter" staged at the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow to the Parisian sensation of "La Esmeralda" featuring the sublime Carlotta Grisi, ballet has captured the imagination of the world.
Back in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside where I call home, it feels like we're part of a ballet ourselves with nature taking centre stage. It's amazing to think, despite being a bit far away, how much the buzz of Vienna feels so connected.
The energy of ballet, dear readers, truly has a universal reach, just like my blog, reaching you wherever you are, with its message of hope and magic.
And oh, Vienna...
Let me tell you, Vienna has an atmosphere that makes me swoon. Imagine walking along a cobbled lane, with graceful carriages clipping clop along, while street musicians are creating a lilting serenade that sets your heart to soaring. This is where my imagination takes flight.
In a quiet nook, tucked away from the main square, we find a tiny but perfectly formed cafe - the sort that transports you straight out of the storybooks. The aroma of coffee and warm pastries makes our tummies rumble, and even Meg gives a knowing whinny in agreement! We take our seats inside the cafe, watching the city bustle around us, and sip our steaming drinks as I tell Meg all about my grand ballet plans. Vienna is certainly alive with ballet news and whispers - whispers of performances, premieres and gossip about the stars.
I couldn't let this journey pass without indulging in a bit of vintage ballet fashion. And you wouldn't believe it, darlings! Vienna is the place for breathtaking ball gowns! My trusty leather rucksack already has a little silk ball gown from this time tucked away safely for safekeeping, ready to inspire my future creations. It has to be shared with you all, as the inspiration for new, timeless ballet-inspired pieces, that’s what pink tutu life is all about, isn't it?
Ballet for the World!
And what's the news of my mission to have everyone in a pink tutu, you ask? Why, things are moving at a ballet pace! I’ve found that even in Vienna’s finest opera houses and theaters, pink is making a quiet but stylish statement.
Even more fabulous - I’m getting messages from every corner of the globe! Fans of the pink tutu have been spotted in New York, Paris, even in the heart of Moscow. It makes me smile, knowing my vision is making its way into hearts and wardrobes. You know what they say, 'One pink tutu at a time'.
That's all for now, darlings! I'm off to seek more adventures. Don’t forget to tune in for next month’s #pink-tutu post to see where my ballet travels take me!
Lots of love, Emma
P.S. I'll be sharing some behind-the-scenes images of my Vienna adventures over on Instagram. You can catch me there, and if you like, tell me where I should visit next!
