Hello, lovelies! It's Emma, your time-travelling tutu enthusiast, back again from a whirlwind tour through 1866! As always, I've packed my trusty pink tutu (naturally!), my trusty leather rucksack, and, of course, the amazing Magic Meg for a truly magnificent time-travelling ballet adventure! 💖
This month, I've landed myself smack bang in the middle of September 1866, which, I must say, has been utterly delightful! The world of ballet was buzzing with activity and I, of course, wouldn't miss it for all the tutus in the world!
Before we dive into the excitement, a quick reminder – my adventures wouldn't be possible without my delightful, glittery performances. Yes, it's all thanks to you lovely folks who support my pink tutu passion, that I can hop through time with Magic Meg! It's your applause, your kind words, and, of course, your adoration for the pink tutu that makes my ballet heart sing. So, thank you! 😘
Now, let's slip on our dancing shoes and get whisked back to that glorious year of 1866!
Parisian Delights: A New Ballerina Takes Centre Stage
Paris, oh, Paris! Always the hub of the ballet world. And this September, it was positively abuzz with the debut of the young and incredibly talented ballerinas – I'm talking about Louise Chalon, a truly graceful and luminous star, who was enchanting audiences with her exquisite talent! Oh, how I wish I could have been there to witness it myself. I can practically imagine the gasps and murmurs as she flitted across the stage, every movement as delicate as a petal. It makes me want to take a pirouette myself!
But Paris wasn't the only stage with sparkling stars, you see. It seems that September of '66 had plenty of ballet beauties around the globe!
London's "Le Carnaval" : A Delightful Dazzling Show!
Across the Channel, London was a-twirl with its own vibrant ballet scene. I had the pleasure of attending a delightful performance of "Le Carnaval" at Covent Garden. Oh, the costumes were divine, bursting with colour and intricacy – the sort that makes a tutu enthusiast's heart flutter! And the story, my dear friends! Oh, it was utterly charming and whimsical, like a beautifully written fairy tale! The stage was awash in music, laughter, and vibrant life, as the performers painted a world of joy and magic! The music was like liquid honey, transporting me to a world of dreams! I spent ages afterwards looking at the ballet posters, they had such stunningly beautiful women. If only I could slip back in time, and dance on that very stage.
Across the Atlantic, A Sparkling Story of Dance
Across the Atlantic, America was embracing the allure of ballet. I couldn't miss a chance to catch a glimpse of the ballet scene there. From what I gathered, New York City was showcasing several ballets, captivating the crowds with their charm and grace! Though my visit was limited by time travel logistics (Magic Meg has a particular fondness for cobblestones and rolling green hills), I heard tales of thrilling choreography and elegant costumes that danced their way into the hearts of the American audience. I almost wished I could grab some vintage ballet shoes from 1866. The style must have been sensational!
Back in Derbyshire, A Love for All Things Tutu
It's amazing how far I can travel in a single month. And to think, this September of 1866, in my quaint Derbyshire home, the tutu would be just an innocent whisper of a fashion trend. I always love a time travelling adventure but I also always get so happy to get back home, in my pink tutu with Meg beside me, where it's safe. So much of what I bring back with me is inspired by ballet. And the tutu is still the heart and soul of it all.
The inspiration from 1866 is bubbling inside me, and it's just the motivation I need to make this September one filled with delightful pink tutus, swirling gowns, and beautiful ballet music! So, do you want to hear some of the delightful tidbits I collected in 1866?
I have to admit, even with my love for the tutu, 1866 brought me face-to-face with its very simple roots! Long gone are the days of dazzling tulle layers, I discovered a ballet world where tutus were much simpler, much more… well, basic! It's kind of amazing how they could do so much with such simple silhouettes! Still, my mission to inspire the world of ballet to embrace pink tutus is still ongoing. I just love those voluminous swirling pieces!
There's something magical about the music of this era! Oh, the waltz! My goodness, I found myself mesmerized by the music’s captivating rhythm and graceful sway! Just imagining dancers gracefully floating across the stage to the enchanting tunes was a delightful picture in my mind! And I just adore waltzing too. I love the music, the clothes, and the delicate steps, it’s like stepping into a romantic story.
And oh, the stories! Every tutu, every pose, whispered tales of dance. I brought back so many, I even had to add more pockets to my rucksack! From accounts of the brilliant Maria Taglioni (the original queen of tutus!), to the elegance of Carlotta Grisi... my goodness, every detail of these ballerina’s lives was so thrilling! I loved reading how they used their dances to move people and make them forget their problems.
My love for the world of ballet knows no bounds! So, stay tuned, my lovelies. The pink tutu has lots of exciting things planned for this month – think pink fashion, ballet music that takes your breath away, and even a few more insights into the fascinating world of dance from all my travels! 💖
Until then, dance like nobody's watching!
