Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post #2508 - A December Dance Through Time!

Hello, lovelies! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast and chronicler of all things ballet, ready to whisk you away on another time-hopping adventure! Today, we're jetting back to 12th December 1869, and I must tell you, my dear readers, there's a rather wonderful energy in the air - an anticipation, a buzz... it's positively electrifying!

But before we dive into the delicious details of the day, a quick hello from your trusty steed, Magic Meg! My pink-sparkling, golden-hooved Shire horse is neighing a cheery "Good morrow!" from the stables - she's quite partial to a December afternoon with a dusting of frost, especially when it means a trip through time.

Speaking of time travel, let's chat about funding! You know how much I adore the theatrical world - seeing shows, shopping for those exquisite ballet fashions...it's all a part of the magic, isn't it? Well, my lovelies, I'm lucky enough to be able to afford these delightful adventures thanks to my ballet performances. From dazzling solo numbers to intricate group pieces, I simply adore sharing my love of dance with the world! (And if you're in the Derbyshire area and want to see a performance, let me know - you're all most welcome!)

Back to the past, we go! Today, we're going to the Théatre de l'Opéra de Paris. Yes, my dears, Paris! We're on our way to witness the premiere of Jules Massenet's captivating "Don César de Bazan", a spectacular operetta in three acts with some absolutely stunning choreography. Can you imagine the anticipation? The murmur of the audience? The sheer brilliance of those Parisian lights glittering over the stage? I just know we're going to be absolutely swept away by the emotion, the energy, the pure artistry!

This period, 1869, was truly an enchanting one for ballet. There's a definite sense of dramatic flourishes, a romanticism mixed with elegance that truly pulls me in. Remember, my lovelies, I have my leather rucksack strapped to my back. I’m collecting everything I can: photos, ticket stubs, perhaps even a tiny sketch from the libretto. Oh! And wouldn't it be wonderful to grab a vintage program or perhaps even a photograph of the esteemed prima ballerina?

While the Opéra de Paris is abuzz with "Don César de Bazan", we'll also be paying a visit to Saint Petersburg for another taste of what the world of ballet is up to. On this same date in 1869, at the famed Mariinsky Theatre, they're presenting "The Sleeping Beauty", one of my absolute all-time favourite ballets! I love the beauty of the music, the grandeur of the sets, the fairy-tale quality - everything about it just brings a magical glimmer to my eyes!

Just imagining the tutus those ballerinas will be wearing in both locations is simply intoxicating! Perhaps a flurry of fluffy tulle, a shimmer of silk, or a splash of colour - it's a feast for the senses, a glimpse into a time when grace and artistry were truly celebrated!

Of course, as I flit through time, I keep an eye out for fascinating fashion trends. My aim, after all, is to get everyone rocking a pink tutu, so I need to learn all I can about how people wore tutus in the past, and I'm hoping for some absolutely delicious insights this December.

Don't forget, my dear readers, www.pink-tutu.com is where you can find all my blog posts, as well as plenty of inspiring photographs, fabulous ballet stories, and fashion tips that are guaranteed to have you pirouetting with joy!

Until next time, my darlings, remember - every day is a new opportunity to twirl your worries away! And always, always, always, embrace the magic of ballet!

With a final pirouette,

Emma xo
