Hello lovelies! Emma here, your trusty pink tutu-clad time traveler, ready to take you on another magical trip back through time! This month we're heading to Vienna, a city practically synonymous with music and dance, so buckle up your tulle and let's get ready to twirl!
As always, let's set the scene. February 2nd, 1878, and Vienna is bustling with excitement. Emperor Franz Joseph I is in his prime, the Habsburg Empire is a force to be reckoned with, and the Viennese waltz reigns supreme in the world of dance. This is a time of waltzing through grand balls, of exquisite music and breathtaking costumes. Oh, how I dream of swirling in one of those stunning ballrooms!
But let's be honest, lovelies, there's much more to Vienna than waltzes and aristocracy. This city, nestled amongst the beautiful Danube River, pulsates with a cultural energy that's almost tangible. And at the heart of it all β ballet, of course!
I'm just about to mount my darling Magic Meg, my pink shimmering Shire with the most glorious white mane and tail (did I mention she has golden hooves?!) Magic Meg's my trusty companion in my monthly ballet-themed time travels and a real beauty queen in her own right, we even wear matching pink ribbons on our braids.
Speaking of magic, can we take a moment to talk about how incredible time travel is? Just imagining yourself in the midst of such history, a ballerina amongst the grand masters of a bygone era! The world, literally, is my stage! The whole world and all the history it holds is our ballet class, waiting to be discovered. Itβs almost as magical as getting everyone wearing a pink tutu! (Did I mention that's my aim in life?! π)
And speaking of dreams coming true, this month we're off to see the Wiener Staatsoper. It's a majestic theatre with a long history of ballet performances, known for its incredible beauty, and of course, those phenomenal ballets!
For my February ballet journey, I have selected a soft, candy pink tutu with delicate layers of silk and hand-stitched pearl embellishments (I just love a bit of extra sparkle!). It pairs beautifully with a satin bodice adorned with cascading ribbons. The look is finished off with a classic white satin ballet slipper, because after all, every outfit needs that iconic ballet touch, right? I love collecting ballet items as souvenirs, this month it will be an antique dance card for my ever-growing collection.
To make sure I'm fully prepared for my ballet-packed time travel adventure, I've loaded up my leather rucksack with all the essentials: a feather boa for warmth, my pink silk scarf (for those grand ballrooms), a compact mirror to ensure I look absolutely flawless, my signature sketchbook for capturing every breathtaking detail, and a trusty notebook filled with my meticulous historical research about the incredible ballet world of Vienna in 1878.
After all, a little pre-show reading is never amiss when time traveling β itβs all in the detail!
Right then, darling, time to mount Magic Meg and embark on a grand, girly journey to Vienna's Ballet History. Letβs create some magical memories together, and let's hope everyone in Vienna will be wearing a pink tutu in 1878 !
