Hello lovelies! It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-loving time traveller, back from another exciting jaunt through the annals of ballet history. Today's adventure took me all the way back to the 3rd of March 1883, a date packed with swirling tutus, glittering chandeliers, and oh-so-many sequins!
Let's just say, Magic Meg (my trusty pink-sparkling Shire with golden hooves - did I tell you about her?!) was particularly spirited today, prancing us through the time vortex like a dream. We landed in Vienna, the heart of Europe's ballet world, just as the sun began its descent, painting the sky with a glorious pink and orange.
And what a sight awaited us! The Imperial Opera House was buzzing with anticipation, a dazzling symphony of opera glasses, silk gowns, and, of course, elegant, swishing tutus! It felt like a scene straight out of a classic ballet film! My pink tutu, sparkling like a thousand tiny stars, felt perfectly at home amongst this glamorous crowd.
Tonight's performance, I learned from a kindly gentleman who kindly invited me for a cup of sugared coffee at the cafe near the opera house (can you believe I even managed to squeeze in some local pastries?), was The Nutcracker by the Imperial Ballet. I could almost hear the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" before the curtains even opened! Can you imagine? My little ballet-obsessed heart practically leaped with joy.
I spent the rest of the evening watching with rapt attention. I felt so inspired, even grabbing my notepad (I keep one in my trusty leather rucksack for scribbling down my time travel memories, it's perfect for tucking away treasures I find!) to note down all the fascinating details of the costumes, the sets, and of course, the incredible skill of the dancers.
And, just as I suspected, the production was every bit as delightful as I had imagined! They have such an elegance, such precision in their movements, a breathtaking grace that has me absolutely spellbound. I just know that a dash of pink tulle in the Imperial Ballet’s productions wouldn't go amiss. After all, a little pink never hurt anyone!
Back in my own time, my time travelling shenanigans are financed by ballet performances! Oh, wouldn't you just know it! My ballet studio is always putting on captivating performances that enthral audiences and send them home in a tutu-induced haze. (Maybe that's just my little bit of magic.) And each one of you fabulous tutu lovers helps us make this all happen - from ticket sales to merchandise, we wouldn't be here without you! I love our little community. You are truly the backbone of our dance dreams, bringing this whirlwind of pink to life!
Speaking of dreams, can you believe what's happening in the world of ballet back in my own time?! So many wonderful things! The Royal Ballet is about to premiere a brand-new production of Swan Lake, with breathtaking new costumes and, if I'm lucky, some gorgeous pink feathers in the Queen’s Swan Lake costume! I've already snagged tickets for opening night. I am utterly ecstatic.
The other wonderful piece of news that is practically sending me into a joyful twirl is the exciting announcement of a new ballet festival happening right here in Derbyshire! You guys wouldn't believe it! The line-up is divine: contemporary pieces, neo-classical delights, and even a brand-new original ballet set to music by the ever-talented composer, Emily Brontë. What more could a ballet lover like myself ask for?!
I'm truly a lucky girl! And, just as luck would have it, the festival organisers have offered me a chance to share my own unique vision of ballet by staging my own ballet interpretation of "Pink Shoes." (Can you believe it?) We're currently in rehearsals for a whirlwind of pink tutu clad magic that I think you’re going to absolutely adore!
You see, I think it’s all about sharing the magic, the passion for dance, and of course, spreading a little pink sparkle along the way! And what better place to start than here on the www.pink-tutu.com website. Every single one of you inspires me. Every one of you reminds me of the magical power of a simple pink tutu to bring together all kinds of people and hearts!
So, until next month, my dear fellow tutu enthusiasts, let’s spread the love and, of course, a sprinkle of pink wherever we go!
XOXO, Emma 💕🩰
