Hello, my lovelies! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com, where pink is the only colour that matters, tutus are the only fashion, and ballet history is the only way to travel!
It’s July 7th, 1883, and, well, I’m about to tell you a tale. Oh, my darlings, I’ve had the most wondrous journey! We waltzed back in time with my magnificent steed, Magic Meg – yes, that’s her name, after the glorious leaps and twirls of a real-life ballerina. Just imagine a pink sparkling shire horse, with golden hooves and a white mane and tail, ready to prance through time! Oh, I swear she’s a wonder, a true ballerina horse!
But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
I’ve just returned from the glittering halls of Vienna, and what a balletic journey it was! We flew through the air, Magic Meg with the wind whipping her beautiful mane and tail, the sound of her hooves, just like a rhythmical patter. A moment later, we found ourselves amidst a vibrant Vienna, bursting with waltzes and elegant promenades. Just divine, darling!
You know how I am! Always keen to see a ballet performance, and, lucky me, the Vienna Opera House was showcasing none other than "Die Fledermaus." This was Johann Strauss II's most popular operetta, just brimming with elegance and musical charm! You'll find waltzes all through this enchanting performance, such as "The Beautiful Blue Danube" – truly a piece of music that will make your heart melt and your feet tap. Just darling, oh, darling!
Vienna, oh darling, Vienna! You know I can’t resist a little bit of retail therapy after a ballet! My rucksack, a fabulous leather piece – very Victorian – was soon bursting with trinkets and little keepsakes. A porcelain ballerina with her dress just like a delicate pink rose? A hand-stitched fabric fan? The scent of Viennese tea? It was like I had been magically swept back in time, oh darling!
Of course, after the opera and shopping, I had to try on some dresses! I just have to feel those beautiful fabrics on my skin and try a few of those swoon-worthy waltzes on my own. I popped into a shop full of exquisite fabric and lace, oh, my! And picked up a beautiful pink dress, a silk, with beautiful embroidered floral designs – it reminded me so much of my favourite tutu! Yes, my dears, you are truly getting a real feel of 1883 through my words!
I took a bit of time to imagine my dance. Perhaps it was a beautiful waltzing, floating along the marble halls of the Vienna State Opera, oh, darling, it felt so magnificent! With Magic Meg standing nearby, snorting gently, ready for the ride home. And I must say, there is no better way to time-travel than with a pink sparkling shire horse with golden hooves and a white mane and tail and a beautiful leather rucksack. And as the world moves, and I go, I'll share it with you! You will have a feel for how the balletic world really was.
I can’t wait for our next adventure! Until next time, darlings, keep swirling!
Lots of Love, Emma xx
