Hello, darlings! Itās your favourite tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back again from another fabulous trip through the ages. Welcome to Pink-Tutu.com, my monthly diary of sartorial splendours and historical dance adventures! This month, Iāve landed right smack bang in Paris, on the 5th of May, 1890.
This Parisian escapade has been pure Parisian perfection. Itās such a romantic city, with all those cobbled streets and charming cafĆ©s, but what really stole my heart was the ballet. The excitement buzzing through the air is electric. Imagine, a world before Swan Lake became the iconic ballet it is today - back when ballet was all about the grand artistry and technical prowess of individual dancers.
Today, I watched an absolutely stunning performance by a dazzling dancer named Mademoiselle Legat! Her grace and control were just breathtaking. It's amazing to think this was just a mere three years after the premiere of Marius Petipaās The Sleeping Beauty, which is still a ballet Iād gladly watch again and again.
But enough of my rambling, letās dive right into the fascinating ballet world of 1890!
Parisian Perfection: Ballet and BeyondThe Ballet of the Paris Opera is a true gem, just as renowned now as it was back then. I love how these prestigious companies have survived the test of time, carrying on the tradition and nurturing some of the most exceptional talent in the world. Todayās performance left me mesmerized. Mademoiselle Legat is just exquisite - her pink tutu was pure perfection, swirling in a symphony of ethereal elegance with every delicate move she made. You can just tell she puts her heart and soul into each and every step, and that passion, it just transmits to the audience.
Speaking of passion, have I mentioned my own insatiable obsession with pink? Itās my favourite colour and I am forever smitten with tutus. Every time I step into a theatre or watch a ballet performance, Iām reminded just how much these elements contribute to the captivating beauty of the art form. And pink tutus? They're just absolutely magical!
Of course, ballet fashion in the late 19th century was a far cry from the streamlined sleekness we see today. Everything was just so extravagant and dramatic. Think grand, billowing skirts, layered upon layered of lace and tulle, and delicate jewels that sparkle and gleam under the stage lights. Just picture it, gorgeous women like Mademoiselle Legat gracefully soaring across the stage in stunning tutus. I almost had to pinch myself to make sure this was really happening!
And while Iām here in Paris, I simply had to indulge in a little shopping, darling! You know how much I love vintage ballet shoes, tutus, and other theatrical bits and bobs. This lovely boutique I found just brimming with beautiful old pointe shoes! Oh, my goodness! I couldnāt resist adding a pair of gorgeous ruby red ones to my collection, alongside a stunning Victorian ballet slipper adorned with silver filigree, which is simply begging to be worn to a fancy soirĆ©e!
I've been loading up my leather rucksack, collecting stories and memorabilia for my blog, Pink-Tutu.com. It's starting to get quite heavy but I don't care - every item I collect will make an amazing addition to my collection at home. My grandmother always said, āEmma, every journey, every new experience adds a unique feather to your cap, my darling!ā And she's absolutely right. Thereās just so much to discover and so much history to learn about, particularly about the enchanting history of ballet!
The Power of Pink: A Mission in MotionWhile Iām absolutely obsessed with collecting ballet items from around the world and I love the way that fashion, history and the dance intersect, I also believe there is power in bringing a little joy into the world! I want everyone to embrace their inner ballerina, and wear their heart on their tutu, literally!
Thatās why I'm always looking for creative ways to spread the joy of pink and encourage people to live their lives in full-tutu-fabulous style. And I believe this pink tutu love is a wonderful way to express your personality! Why hide behind the ordinary when you can rock a gorgeous tutu and express yourself freely? It's fun, it's vibrant, itās so visually powerful! Just think of all the excitement, confidence and playful flair it brings! I canāt wait to see how my little Pink Tutu mission impacts the world!
A Final Bow to the BalletParis is a place where history swirls around you, where art and fashion intermingle and beauty seems to radiate from every corner. But in the heart of this vibrant city, I discovered something truly magical: the captivating beauty of ballet.
Remember, darlings, you can wear pink every day if you like! It doesnāt have to be a fancy dress - you can mix and match it with everyday outfits and add a dash of personality to everything! Youāll look fantastic and youāll feel good too!
So go out there, darling, wear your pink with pride, twirl around like the queen you are, and embrace life in your own fabulous pink tutu. And while youāre at it, join me next month for another delightful journey through the world of dance!
Until then, keep twirling!
XOXO

P.S. My pink horse, Magic Meg, is getting rather restless after a long journey in a horse-drawn carriage - a true carriage horse but with pink wings. Heās getting so much attention as we make our way through the Parisian streets. Heās going to get used to the Parisian chic very soon I think. I just have to remember to bring the mane brushes!
