Pink Tutu Time Travel: 10th October 1911 - A Ballet Blitz!

Welcome back, darlings! This is Emma here, your very own pink tutu-clad time travelling ballerina, and I’m so thrilled to be writing to you all today. Today, dear readers, marks post number 3010 on the ever-growing Pink Tutu Blog! I just can’t believe how far we’ve come! And as usual, I’m brimming with excitement to share another fantastical journey through the history of ballet.

Now, you know I just adore time travelling by horseback - there’s no greater feeling than the wind whipping through your hair as you gallop through time. My steed, the exquisite Magic Meg, is a vision of shimmering pink and gold. She's a Shire, you know, the noblest of breeds, and I'm convinced her hooves carry a bit of magic with them - maybe that's why she can transport us through time.

Anyway, where were we? Ah yes, October 10th, 1911! It's a date that buzzed with exciting ballet news! It felt like everyone was twirling and leaping that day. To give you a bit of a taster, here’s what my lovely pink Tutu travelled rucksack was stuffed with this month...

Ballet News! A Royal Rave!

Firstly, everyone was going absolutely bonkers for Pavlova, the "Queen of the Dance"! This absolutely enchanting ballerina, with a flair for the dramatic and the exquisite, was enchanting audiences worldwide with her incredible leaps and ethereal grace. She was performing "Les Sylphides" in Paris that day, you see, which sent all the Parisian fashionistas into a spin - they just loved her ballet fashion sense! It was pure Parisian chic. The colours were to die for! All pink, blush, and the most divine lavender hues. Absolutely dreamy! I could so see those colours finding their way onto the Pink Tutu Blog, darling!

Now, as a devoted dance fanatic, my attention was naturally drawn to London’s Royal Opera House where the celebrated Russian Ballet was putting on a fabulous show. It was an absolute ballet extravaganza! Imagine - Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Diaghilev, all under one roof! The dancers - stunning, the costumes - to die for. The atmosphere, oh darling, was pure electricity.

And hold your tutus tight! It's here, darling! My beloved "Pink Tutu" Blog was actually a hot topic back in 1911. Not really about pink tutus of course, but more about "Rose Ballet", darling! Apparently, pink was the absolute hottest shade back then, everyone wanted a touch of blush! They even said the Royal Family loved the pink hues on ballet dresses!

A Dash of Parisian Ballet Style!

And as we talk about Parisian fashion, did I tell you how I snagged a pair of gorgeous shoes from a lovely vintage store on Rue de la Paix? Oh darling, these exquisite ballet slippers, a vision of blush satin, were the absolute dream. They’ll look absolutely divine in a picture for the blog, don’t you think? It’s time to upgrade my wardrobe and update you lovely readers with all the hottest fashion trends, eh?

Speaking of which, Parisian fashion, dear readers, was in full bloom back then. There was so much excitement around new trends, especially in ballet wear. I was captivated by the beautiful beaded silk dresses and the extravagant, dramatic lines of the time. A nod to those flowing, romantic silhouettes with an edge of rebellious attitude!

I even spied some incredibly elaborate ballet accessories, oh my darling, a symphony of feathers, beads, and sequins! Think Diaghilev with a hint of* Marie Antoinette* - absolutely magnificent! A fashion paradise, darling! Oh how I love Paris for the beauty, and I’m sure we can work some of those gorgeous trends in at the Pink Tutu blog, darling.

Time For Tea, My Dearest!

But darling, after a whirlwind of ballet-mania and fashion inspiration, it was time to find myself a beautiful tea salon. And my goodness, what a haven! Pink floral wallpaper, exquisite crystal teacups and a sweet melody of classical music playing in the background. It was utterly charming, like stepping into a page from a fairy tale.

It was there, darling, that I picked up a vintage postcard featuring a portrait of the iconic dancer, Anna Pavlova – she’s just the epitome of elegance and grace! That darling's going on my pink memory wall, so chic! I’ll post it on the blog. Now that’s a perfect picture to give my blog that added flair of vintage glamour!

London's Dance Fever!

Back in London, the buzz around the ballet scene was incredible! They had an absolutely fabulous new show called " The Miracle" by Fokine. And you know what? There was even a lovely story behind the piece - an angel falling to Earth! Oh, so romantic and mysterious. My rucksack is full of newspaper clippings, theatre posters and program brochures, all full of ballet lore. They are simply gorgeous! All very artistic! Oh, those 1911 newspaper headlines, absolutely to die for. A treasure for my readers and myself!

The ballet shows I've been attending in this era are just simply wonderful, they have just the right balance of beautiful and dramatic stories.

And as I wrapped up my exploration of the ballet world on this glorious day, I couldn't help but think, darling, ballet truly is a journey through time! Its spirit never fades - it continues to inspire and enchant the world in its timeless beauty!
