Hello, my lovely pink tutu-loving darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite ballerina blogger, bringing you another instalment of my time travel adventures.
This month, we’re off to… drum roll… Russia! 🇷🇺 I know, I know, I can hear you all squealing with delight. The land of Tchaikovsky, the Bolshoi, and oh, the costumes! 🤩
It’s 9th September 1913 and Magic Meg, my sparkling pink shire horse, is pawing impatiently at the portal. She's ready for some adventure, just as I am. I'm sporting my favourite blush-pink tutu today, one that shimmers like spun sugar in the moonlight. And, of course, my leather rucksack is ready to be filled with the treasures of the past – stories, snippets of music, maybe even a vintage ballet slipper or two! 🤫
This time, I’m travelling back to witness a milestone in ballet history. It’s the premiere of Igor Stravinsky's ballet “The Rite of Spring" – a radical, revolutionary work that broke the traditional mold of ballet. 🤯
And honestly, darlings, just the sheer concept of this ballet is thrilling! A ritual sacrifice, set against a powerful and almost primal score. Can you imagine?! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement just thinking about the choreography and the atmosphere. 💃
I know this might seem a bit out there, even for someone like me, a lover of all things tutu-esque and fabulous, but there's so much about ballet that goes beyond the twirling and the grace. It's about pushing boundaries, telling stories, and moving audiences – whether it’s the beautiful ballets we know and love today or the daring, experimental pieces that changed the course of ballet history. ✨
But what is there to do beyond the performance, you ask? Well, I’m on a mission, darlings. 🎀 My latest goal is to encourage a passion for ballet – the tutus, the costumes, the movements – in as many people as possible, regardless of their background, their age, or where they are in the world. I’m already working on spreading the pink tutu gospel around the globe. 😉
And guess what?! There’s a delightful event happening today: The Imperial Russian Ballet has organised a tea party in celebration of the new ballet. 🫖✨ Imagine, the exquisite china, the delicate sandwiches, the endless supply of pastries! Oh, and did I mention the gowns? There are going to be more tulle and silk than you can shake a pointe shoe at. 😄
Don’t worry, darlings, I’m going to share every bit of the experience with you! I'll document the costume designs, the captivating dancers, and of course, those scrumptious treats. And I will, of course, be taking lots of pictures - it's all going to be posted to my website: www.pink-tutu.com. (Post number 3033, by the way! 😉). I'll even post a special video blog with exclusive glimpses into the world of ballet in 1913!
So, buckle up, darlings! It’s time for another incredible journey with your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger. We're off to discover the magic of “The Rite of Spring", and the beauty of a ballet performance a hundred years ago. It's going to be spectacular! 🩰✨
