Hello my darling ballet enthusiasts! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing time-traveller, ready to whisk you away on another adventure!
April the 4th, 1921 - that's where we're landing this month, my dears. As always, my trusty pink sparkle-shirred shire horse, Magic Meg, with her gleaming golden hooves and cloud-like white mane and tail, is pawing impatiently, eager to transport us to the dazzling world of ballet in this time period!
Today's ballet adventure begins with a quick flick of my little silver-tipped wand (a trusty ballet "must-have") - a whispered "abracadabra", a dash of pink shimmer dust, and voila - we're in 1921!
First stop? London! Can't miss a ballet show whilst in the city! There are just so many delightful performances happening in this vibrant hub of culture. We'll be checking out what's on at the prestigious Covent Garden! Their poster schedule has something magical lined up for us - it's "The Sleeping Beauty!" And don't get me started on the beautiful new "The Three Musketeers" show at His Majesty's Theatre! They say the choreography is just heavenly.
With a swift jump on to the cobblestones, we're making our way to Covent Garden, taking in the hustle and bustle of 1920s London. My oh my! The costumes - so elegant and chic! I especially adore the "bob" haircut on all the lovely ladies.
Dancing, Shopping and a Pink Tutu Feast
My bag is overflowing with little treasures already, including some delightful ballet memorabilia. I simply can't resist picking up some lovely beaded brooches - so glamorous! A new broach would definitely add a bit of a pink-tutu flair to any outfit, don't you think?
Onwards we travel to a very exciting ballet happening - a competition held in Vienna! Can you imagine, a competition dedicated to the grace and beauty of ballet! This is the place to find aspiring dancers - all with a twinkle in their eyes and dreams as big as the Vienna State Opera House itself. I always feel a sense of kindred spirits with these future ballet stars. It’s important to encourage that passionate fire inside, my dears.
In the realm of fashion, the world of ballet is bursting with creativity! Think feathered headdresses, velvet tutus, long, sweeping gowns and elegant lace designs. Ballet and fashion are simply made for each other!
You know how I always say "a little pink never hurt anyone," don't you dears? Well, the ballet world has embraced this sentiment wholeheartedly! There’s just a little hint of the Pink Tutu charm here, and there. For example, have you seen the breathtaking costumes worn at the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet? A glorious explosion of pastel shades and luxurious fabrics. Ballet truly embraces the soft and ethereal.
Travel Diary
Of course, Magic Meg has carried us across the world, too, stopping in a place that is as famous for its breathtaking architecture and beautiful culture - Russia. I found some incredible designs for dancers, a truly remarkable spectacle - all focusing on elegance and tradition. There’s a particular piece I can't wait to tell you about. In Moscow, there’s a performance I can’t stop thinking about, called "The Nutcracker" (oh, a personal favourite, my dears!), with dancers looking like fairies dancing on clouds.
While the French have a love of the classical style. You can’t talk about ballet in 1921 without mentioning their beautiful dance academies! These institutions are breeding grounds for some of the world's finest dancers, and I'm soaking it all in!
I've met the most wonderful ballet students who have inspired me to carry their joy of movement with me, even when I'm back home in Derbyshire, England. They say if you love what you do, and embrace that inner fire, there is nothing that can stop you.
With a twirl and a wave, we're back in the present, ready to spread the ballet love and encourage the inner pink-tutu ballerina within us all.

Until next time,
Emma
