Pink Tutu Time Travels: Post #3199 - July 7th 1927!

Hey ballet-lovers! Emma here, ready to whisk you back in time once more with the help of my fabulous steed, Magic Meg, the pink-sparkling Shire with golden hooves. It's the 7th of July 1927 and the air is abuzz with the energy of the world of dance, so saddle up and get ready to tutus-up for this month's blog post!

Oh, my lovely readers, how could I not dedicate a post to a date so close to my own heart? The 7th of July! It's the day my love for pink tutus first sparked, a memory I'll cherish forever, even if I don't quite recall what year it was.

As usual, we'll be exploring the fascinating world of ballet history and bringing you the hottest happenings, but today I also have a special announcement! As we journey back in time to 1927, I'm revealing the secrets of my secret project: a pink tutu pop-up shop for every time period I travel through. I'll be bringing my favourite ballet fashions to you! Isn't that simply smashing? Just imagine a shop filled with tutus as bright as a strawberry, shimmering sequins as sparkly as the stars and even an antique tutu boutique for your classic look! My ambition is to get the whole world twirling in pink tutus – don't you think that's a dream worth chasing?

Now, let's saddle up Magic Meg and gallop through the portal. We're arriving in Paris! And guess what? The 7th of July is a special date here – it marks the opening of the 33rd edition of the “Concours Musical International de Paris” (Paris International Music Competition). A grand competition attracting some of the world's most talented musicians, and guess what? This year's edition features not one, not two, but THREE ballerinas, making history and bringing grace and talent to the event. We're talking about a level of skill that'll have your jaw dropping, like mine! You can almost imagine them leaping across the stage with a captivating mix of agility and elegance.

Speaking of grace and elegance, this 7th of July is a big day for ballerinas all around the world. We're celebrating the birthday of a legendary ballerina, Anna Pavlova. Anna's life was as beautiful and inspiring as her artistry. Imagine! She was a true inspiration to a generation of dancers! To celebrate Anna, we're also checking out the performance of "The Dying Swan," one of the most beloved ballets ever choreographed. With its evocative choreography, captivating music, and captivating performances, the Swan has touched the hearts of countless people over the decades, leaving audiences enchanted and captivated. A testament to its power!

We can't forget London, though. On this same date, London was abuzz with the final rehearsals for the newest musical comedy performance - "A to Z!" a hilarious spectacle packed with a lot of fancy costumes and beautiful melodies, not quite as sophisticated as our ballet classics, but just as fun! And what better place to be for a show like this than the beautiful Piccadilly Theatre?

Across the ocean in New York, they're preparing to start the summer at Radio City Music Hall. But the show in New York was no ordinary summer spectacular – it had everything to make for a great evening! Gorgeous music, mesmerizing costumes, the most skilled and gifted dancers, and of course, spectacular lighting and special effects that would leave you awestruck.

Let me pull my trusty leather backpack off of Magic Meg’s saddle. This thing holds more ballet secrets than I care to admit, and on today’s trip we’re filling it up with treasures from this era. I imagine an 1884 issue of Harper’s Magazine would be quite a sight - pictures, costumes, and stories. My dream would be to add in a souvenir program for "A to Z!" from that same theatre, I know my fellow dancers would love it! It will also be a valuable asset to my pink tutu collection – oh, what exciting possibilities this holds! I simply can't wait to bring them back with me and put them in my vintage ballet boutique!

But all these fascinating events bring me back to my initial point - why not make today special, my lovely readers, and slip into your pink tutu! Just imagine – an army of dancing hearts, in every part of the world, twirling to the beat of their hearts! That is the goal, isn't it? To fill the world with the wonder, beauty, and magic of dance. Maybe, just maybe, that dream isn't just a dream, but the beginning of a new, brighter chapter in the story of ballet!

Until next month, keep on twirling and dream pink! Don't forget to visit our online store at www.pink-tutu.com and let your inner ballerina sparkle!
