Hello darlings! Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina! It's time to whisk you away to the magical world of dance and fashion once more, this time to a thrilling May Day in 1931.
Grab your favourite pink tutus and a spot of tea (with two sugars, naturally) as we journey back to the roaring 20s! Oh, darling, did you know it was almost the 1930s?! Just imagine - those scandalous flapper dresses and the revolutionary spirit!
But before we hop onto Magic Meg, our magnificent pink shimmering Shire horse with the most golden hooves and a tail like spun silk, I must tell you about my fabulous finds from my last trip! I went right back to the late 19th century! Can you believe it?! I snagged a darling vintage dance fan from Paris - delicate, lace, and painted with dancing fairies! It now has pride of place on my dressing table back in Derbyshire, right next to the Victorian-era satin ballet shoes I found hidden away in a dusty attic.
And my dear friends, there's nothing like finding vintage treasures! Speaking of, it’s time to hop on Meg's back! (Remember, I have a special pink leather rucksack to collect all the ballet goodies! It's rather a statement, I must say!). Let’s travel to the shimmering 1931…
The 5th of May: Ballet Buzz and Bustle
London’s Colosseum: I just adore the thrill of seeing a show. So, imagine my excitement as I arrive at the Colosseum in London, the theatre adorned with the most fantastic neon lighting! This venue is truly fabulous! Oh darling, what an honour! They are performing “The Sleeping Beauty,” at this moment - my absolute favourite classic, of course! I've got tickets - I'll have to do my very best to avoid ruining this momentous night, not an easy feat for a pink-tutu-wearing time-traveler! Imagine the sheer excitement: this show is set to a score by Tchaikovsky, a truly gifted maestro of melody.
But wait, there’s more!
Not just London buzzing with ballet on the 5th of May. Did you know that the very same evening in New York City, there is an equally stunning performance of "The Swan Lake," one of my other favourites, happening at the Metropolitan Opera House?! It seems May Day in 1931 was a veritable feast of dance, darling!
The Fashion Fiasco:
Oh, don't get me started on the fashions, dears! I just adore the sleek dresses and feathered hats of the 1930s. It's as if everyone is stepping out of a fashion magazine! They're making the most of silk, sequins and beading. But you know me, it's all about the pink for me. Oh, those luxurious satins! It’s almost enough to tempt me out of my ever-faithful pink tutus…
Pink Tutu Goals
It’s all about the pink tutu for me, darling, and nothing gets my pink heart racing faster than inspiring everyone I meet to embrace this fabulous style. What’s a tutu if not a fabulous form of artistic expression? A wearable piece of pink perfection for expressing joy and creativity, not to mention a bold fashion statement that's undeniably fabulous and feminine!
Dance in Your Pink Tutu Everywhere
The magic of dance is meant to be shared, isn't it? And, wouldn’t you agree, a little touch of pink makes the world a more dazzling and beautiful place? It's about time to give everyone in 1931 a chance to see what I'm talking about. I've brought along a whole box full of pink tutus, because darling, what is life without a dash of colour and a hint of frivolity?! It’s my mission to give all of these fashionable ladies a lesson in the delightful pink tutu! Imagine: the elegance and sheer joie de vivre of this wonderful time period amplified with the power of pink! It's enough to make my ballet-loving heart swoon, isn’t it?!
But oh, look! Magic Meg has just started a little side conversation with a gentleman in a bowler hat and a magnificent dog that just so happens to be wearing a collar of scarlet-red! (Isn’t she just brilliant at finding interesting friends? I don’t know what I’d do without her). My, she’s getting a bit restless – a sign it’s time to make our way back. Don’t worry – I'll share my 1931 ballet adventure in full with more pink tutu pics and stories next month, darlings!
In the meantime, keep the pink tutu dream alive and remember: every step is a waltz with beauty and style!
Until next time!
Love,
Emma, your time-travelling pink tutu ballerina
