Welcome, dear readers, to the magical realm of www.pink-tutu.com! It's Emma here, your ever-so-pink and ever-so-passionate ballet-loving time traveller. And oh my, my little darlings, have I got a tale for you today! We're dipping our toes into the fascinating world of ballet, but not just any day, oh no! We're pirouetting into the heart of 1933, a year bursting with vibrant life and – of course! – wonderful ballet performances.
But first, a little about this month’s adventures! Magic Meg, my beautiful pink-sparkling Shire with the golden hooves and snow-white mane and tail, was neighing with excitement for this trip! Her hooves pawed the ground impatiently, as we packed my leather rucksack with delicate ballet slippers (vintage, naturally!), a stylish vintage pink beret, and, of course, enough sequins and tulle to cover a grand ballroom. This time, it wasn’t just about the shoes and costumes, but about capturing the stories that would bring this historical ballet journey to life!
And so, as the stars shimmered and Meg whinnied softly, we leapt through time! We landed with a graceful bump (well, as graceful as a pink-tutu-clad ballet enthusiast on a horse can land!), smack bang in the middle of a bustling London, oh how different it all felt! Buildings looked elegant yet sturdy, ladies and gents were wrapped in gorgeous fashions and, oh the hats! I longed for my pink beret to be big enough to capture the essence of every single headpiece on display!
What’s the first thing I noticed, my darlings? Ballet was EVERYWHERE! Imagine! Newspapers were bursting with mentions of the Bolshoi Ballet performing in London, oh how exciting! Then there were these darling posters, featuring dancers in elegant tutus, fluttering silk skirts, and poses that were both classic and dramatic. This must have been a thrilling era to be a ballet fan!
Now, onto my treasure-trove finds! It wouldn't be a ballet-themed time travel trip without finding some amazing costumes and accessories. First, at a vintage clothing shop – that practically screamed pink! – I found a tutu, perfect for a Victorian era performance, a piece of history truly worth treasuring! And I also found a sweet pink ribbon, just perfect for the bow that sits right on the top of my pink tutu.
Of course, what would a ballet-lover do with an antique tutu? Take it home and twirl in it, of course! It was just lovely! The tulle was a little stiff, it felt different from my usual super stretchy material but that made the twirls a bit more dramatic, and the lovely hand sewn detailing had my inner dressmaker sighing! I danced for a good while before remembering why we were in 1933! I must say, though, after my dancing in 1933, I have decided that it’s the perfect era to combine fashion and dance for my next ballet performance – what do you think, dears? Pink tutu, vintage outfit, maybe a feather boa?
This visit was brimming with excitement. There was the captivating news about Margot Fonteyn - now making a name for herself in London with her captivating performances. How very exciting! It is the ballet stars of our era who truly shape history and make every performance special!
Remember, dear readers, this isn't just about pink tutus and shiny horses, it's about inspiring each other, connecting to our shared love for the beauty of ballet, discovering its glorious past, and bringing it back to life!
Now, tell me, darling readers, have any of you been to a ballet performance in London, or any other city? What caught your eye about the world of ballet that year? What did you think of this glimpse into 1933? Let me know in the comments section, and remember, don’t forget to check back every month, and keep twirling!
