Pink Tutu Time Travel: Ballet's Blooming in 1935! 🌸🩰

Hello fellow ballet lovers! Welcome back to my time-travelling blog, Pink Tutu, for another enchanting journey into the captivating history of ballet. Today, we're swirling through the shimmering sands of 5th May, 1935. Buckle up, darlings, because this trip is positively bursting with ballet brilliance!

This month's escapade whisks us to a vibrant world brimming with ballet talent. It's springtime, and everywhere we turn, the spirit of ballet is blossoming like a vibrant rose in full bloom. As always, my faithful steed, Magic Meg, my gorgeous, sparkling pink Shire with a mane and tail as white as fresh snow and hooves of shimmering gold, stands ready to carry us through the annals of time. Her gentle snorts and playful flick of her magnificent tail signal our imminent departure. I can't help but grin, my heart leaping with the excitement of discovery! I'm already anticipating the thrilling new ballet discoveries to be made and the stunning new pink tutu to add to my collection! With a little extra magic sprinkled by my pink satin ribbons and an unquenchable thirst for ballet beauty, we're off!

Ballet in the Ballroom ✨

This date finds me in London, nestled amidst the city's vibrant energy. The first stop on my ballet journey? The legendary Grosvenor House Ballroom. Imagine my delight when I stumble upon a "Ballet for Children" show held there! This is my favourite kind of performance! The enchanting Vic-Wells Ballet are dazzling the audience with a playful and imaginative production. They've created a wondrous world for the young and old, a magical playground of colour, graceful movement and sparkling melodies! The enchanting costumes, so elegant yet fun, remind me of delicate butterflies fluttering across the stage!

Now, who wouldn't fall head over heels for a performance designed for pure joy and innocent laughter? The young ballerinas pirouette with such joy, it is almost impossible not to join in!

Ballet Fashion Frenzy

This is not the only magical experience that awaits me. Stepping outside the Ballroom, I find myself on Oxford Street. A hub for everything fabulous and a treasure trove for ballet-obsessed time-travellers like myself!

Now, a true ballet-lover like myself must add the latest London fashions to my collection! A designer like Hardy Amies, who dresses royalty, creates exquisite ensembles! And imagine the sheer glamour of creations by Victor Stiebel - the king of chic, with outfits designed for elegance and poise! I picture myself waltzing around a stage in a stunning black and gold ensemble, perhaps accented with a feather boa – so much drama and so very much elegance!

The excitement is building, and I simply must venture into a quintessential British department store, Liberty's.

Ah! Look at these sumptuous silk fabrics, shimmering like starlit ponds. The richness of the colours, they’re a kaleidoscope of dreams – ideal for an ethereal tutu design, don’t you think? I can almost smell the scent of lilac and sandalwood that must permeate these rooms. Now to find the perfect fabric to incorporate into my latest pink tutu design. Perhaps something a little more extravagant for our upcoming 1935 performance. The pastel pink satin – divine! With just a touch of ivory and gold ribbon detail – stunning! It's a must-have, just perfect for my ballet performance this coming weekend, I must add a touch of pink shimmer and sparkle!

The Buzz of Ballet on Broadway 🎭

Magic Meg, however, knows this trip's not over. The aroma of excitement hangs heavy in the air as she whinnies with a new adventure on her mind. We're soaring across the Atlantic!

Now, imagine the excitement! The vibrant energy of Broadway calls!

There, I catch a performance of Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, led by the enigmatic Colonel de Basil. He's considered the emperor of ballet in these parts. And the entire company dances with fiery energy, drawing the audience in with magnetic performances. Their choreography, like threads of silk and velvet weaving themselves into tales, blends classic beauty with exhilarating new techniques.

Oh, but of course, I couldn't resist dipping into the heart of New York City's style and shopping, could I? It’s impossible to escape the energy of fashion, it’s everywhere! I find myself in Bergdorf Goodman – just breathtaking! Look at this dazzling array of shimmering evening gowns, the elegant silhouettes, the dazzling silhouettes! I would look absolutely divine on stage wearing one! But what about a stylish yet modest dress, a touch of 1930's whimsy to compliment the gorgeous pink tutu! Oh, that deep-red satin – perfectly stylish and effortlessly elegant – perfect for a glamorous evening on Broadway. The colour alone is positively magnetic. It's impossible to leave the city without a memento of this unforgettable trip! This is my absolute favourite shop – what's yours?

Dance Your Dreams πŸ’–

So, dear ballet friends, our journey through 5th May, 1935, comes to an end. But what an incredible experience it has been! From London's joyful ballets for children to Broadway's fiery artistic brilliance – the magic of ballet continues to flourish wherever we journey.

It’s my hope that with every trip, the wonders of ballet spread, its stories reach a wider audience, and everyone feels inspired to create a life filled with dance, just like me!

Until our next time-travelling adventure, keep dancing your dreams. And remember – don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina!
